Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth With A French Factory Long Necklace

Excuse our French? Well maybe not today. Coming from a very French family, we were lucky enough to grow up in Paris and go back fairly often. Our aunt has always loved the city and would take us out when we were little to tea or shopping and would let us wear her bright red lipstick. This past year we were visiting for our birthday when she decided to take us to a jewelry expo, and we ran across this company. French Factory's mix of jewelry is very tongue-in-cheek -- delicate porcelain or gold with modern day expressions ranging from ladylike to raunchy on them. This "J'aime le chocolat" long necklace translates to "I love chocolate," and of course who doesn't?

LA Fashion Week: Ooh La La! Samora Sends Us Swooning

    image
Anna Yu on Oct 23, 2008 6:19 PM PDT
If Holly Golightly had divided her time between New York and Paris, then the clothes from designer Samora Olayan would be perfect for all her Parisian getaways. It was hard to miss the giant Eiffel Tower backdrop and pink bicycle with flowers in the basket at the beginning of her runway show at Mercedes-Benz LA Fashion Week. With that in mind, Samora definitely captured the essence of the carefree Paris all of us would love to have in our day to day lives. Romantic ruffles were everywhere to be seen on the runway from the necklines, waistlines, and hemlines! Mint green, pink, white, and black were the colors of choice in light and airy (sometimes sheer!) fabrics. Another trend to be aware of for Spring 2009 are lady-like wrist length and half gloves. From cocktail dresses to separates, take a look at my SLIDESHOW to see what you should wear to your garden parties next spring.

Hive 5: Stripes That Won't Make You Scream Yipes!

It's rare indeed, but sometimes a trend has so much staying power that it's really more of a classic than anything else. I'm talking about stripes! Pinstripes, rugby stripes, zebra stripes, fruit stripe gum...okay, maybe that last one was a little random, but you get the idea. Stripes are here to stay, and as far as we're concerned, there's no reason they shouldn't. Channel your inner Parisian city girl with a slouchy striped top and dark wash skinnies, add a little nautical flair with navy and white stripes, or amp up your prep factor in a striped polo- you simply can't go wrong. Check out my slideshow for five favorite no-yipe striped styles!

Paris Style: Stéphanie Cesairé Hand-Built Handbags Are Luxe ...

Remember luxury? Timeless designs of irreproachable quality characteristic of the past? Sigh. Just when I thought I۪d spiraled into nostalgic despair of the disappearance of such exquisite quality, I stumbled upon French designer St̩phanie Cesair̩, whose creations remind us that the luxury flame is still being carried (albeit by a select few). After collaborations with big guns like Karl Lagerfeld (Lagerfeld Gallery), Alber Elbaz (Guy Laroche), LVMH (Kenzo), and most recently Nina Ricci, it۪s no wonder that Cesaire۪s leitmotif is that each creation must be "rare and eternal." When Opposites Attract: Boho + Luxe Can Be Pure Perfection

A luxe dress doesn't always have to be accompanied by ladylike matching pumps and a proper handbag. It's sad to think of all the fabulous cocktail dresses sitting lonely in their protective dry-cleaner bags in the back of the closet, waiting anxiously for their next tony affair. Parisians are born with the ability to pull this look together in their sleep - their secret seems to be the abandonment of all rules of "this goes with that." Want to be French for a day? Try pairing a sexy cocktail dress like this one by Les Prairies de Paris with funky boho gladiator sandals. Tie it together with jewelry that has elements of both styles like this snake ring by Iosselliani and a big stack of silver bangles. Click SEE SLIDESHOW for four separates that, when put together, are Parisian perfection!
