Hot In The Hive: Tabletop Pac-Man Arcade Game From Brookstone

As much as I think that Spencer Pratt is one of the world's biggest loser-jerks, I have to admit I was pretty jealous when I first turned on "The Hills" to see that he had decked out the Speidi pad with full-sized arcade games in the living room, much to Heidi's dismay. Sure, the huge Pac-Man and Centipede machines might have been an eyesore and it may not have been the most "mature" decision when it comes to decor, but c'mon -- they were pretty sweet. Apparently Brookstone knows what I'm talking about, because in honor of Pac-Man's 25th anniversary, they've created a tabletop version for your at-home enjoyment -- complete with Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, and Galaga -- so you can beat your own high score daily without having to hit up the local Chuck E. Cheese... or the bank for fifty bucks worth of quarters.

    L33T Jewelry for Gamer Girls!

I enjoy the Wii very much. It really is the future of gaming. My brother bought me the Nintendo DS for my birthday. I'd like to think that I am at least staying relatively current on new games and gaming consoles. I would never call myself a gamer - true gamers may try to hurt me with flying turtle shells - but I grew up with SEGA and Nintendo. I have a younger brother and a family on a budget so we had to share many toys. This led to a childhood bereft of Barbies and My Little Ponies and one full of uni-sex toys like Legos, boardgames, and eventually, video games. Wario and Waluigi, for as long as they've been around, are still considered "new" members of the Mario family in my mind! Now that I'm all grown-up, I can't spend my days worrying about coins and mushrooms and evil nemeses. But, there is still that child inside that likes to make an appearance every so often. The best way for a little girl all grown up to show her gaming side? Jewelry, of course! Obviously, I'm not the only one with nostalgic childhood memories of Mario, Kirby and magic mushrooms! Check out the slide-show for a great variety of awesome, wearable gaming jewelry and accessories and let your inner child out!

Hot In The Hive: The Pac-Man Hot Head Oven Mitt

    image
Lisanne Silverman on Apr 13, 2009 6:20 AM PDT
My affinity for all things PAC-MAN is one I've cultivated for quite awhile now, from memories of holding the high score on the machine at the ice skating rink to the old school Namco plug and play system that I can now blame for a sore wrist... that red monster is SO MEAN. Oh, and I get the munchies a lot, but that could be from anything. (No, not that). So when I came across this PAC-MAN oven mitt, I just knew it was destined for my kitchen. The silicone pot holder and oven mitt features a no-slip grip-- in the form of the actual arcade maze embossed inside of the mouth. Brilliant! I'd scoop it up right now except #1, it's not available until later this month, and #2, I don't really bake. But other than that I can't think of any reason why I shouldn't have it!
