Real Leather Jackets For Under $250!

    image

Oh, the leather jacket. Never before has one piece garnered so much attention in the "save or splurge" category. You know the pros and cons of each by now, so let's jump ahead to a much more exciting debate: real vs. faux leather. Faux leather is usually easy to distinguish from real, and a faux jacket can run you anywhere from $40 at Forever 21 to almost $200 at Urban Outfitters. While there are gems to be found, my guess is you're giving up either quality fabric (not that good faux leather doesn't exist) or quality construction-- two things that can make or break your purchase. Real leather jackets, while often considerably more expensive, are generally going to be of a higher overall quality, regardless of the material, so if you plan on wearing your jacket regularly for more than one season, you may want to invest in the real deal. I've found several real leather jackets that retail for less than $250, and if you can dig up a coupon code or are brave enough to play the game known as "I'll wait 'til it goes on sale," you can snap one of these up for quite the steal. The trick is to look in places you may not normally frequent! So-called "mom brands" like Ann Taylor, Eddie Bauer, and Jones New York happen to have gorgeous leather jackets that easily rival the trend pieces you'd see in any high-end shop-- at about a third of the price. How To Look Cute (And Stay Dry) In The Rain!

    image

Looking cute when it's raining is no easy feat. It's amazing how quickly you can go from looking impeccably stylish to looking like... a wet dog (and trust me, that's not cute if you're a human). You could brave the storm in head-to-toe rain gear, but at that point you'd probably rather be drenched and fashionable than dry and completely drab. I've compiled a collection of rainy day essentials that are so stylish, you might find yourself wishing for puddles! Hunter wellies are playful and easy to coordinate with your outfits, and you can seriously wade to work in them- I know I have! A cute trench coat is a must-have- I'm loving Topshop's take on the classic topper. Kate Spade's bow-adorned rain boots would be lovely with thick-knit tights and a felted mini, and you definitely won't forget your umbrella when it happens to be clear and bubble-inspired! See my slideshow for the wet-weather items that'll make your (rainy) day!

Couture In The City Loves Rachel Roy's TransFOURmer Coat!

Just in time for fall, the new TransFOURmer coat from the Rachel Rachel Roy collection is not only super chic, but smart and thrifty too! As seen in Real Simple magazine, the Transfourmer coat is one coat that can be unzipped and worn in 4 different ways. Remove the bottom for a chic motorcycle jacket look or take off the sleeves and bottom for a twist on a vest. The inside is lined with Rachel's signature graffiti print, for an unexpected pop of color. View the video that demos all of the different looks the coat transforms into, then check out Couture in the City for more thrifty fashion treasures!

WhatsWear Finds Great Fall Leather Jackets For Less!

Leather jackets are one of the most important fall staples. They are universal, never go out of style and look great on both men and women. However, some leather jackets can run you upwards of $600! In this economy that is just way too much to spend on a jacket you can only wear in the spring and the fall. However, WhatsWear has come to the rescue and found adorable leather jackets for under $260! We scoured the web searching for cheap and chic jackets for both men and women. TopShop had the best selection of real leather and faux leather jackets. I love their fitted, cropped black jackets for women. These three jackets had more of a rock-n-roll feel, but if you are looking for something more ladylike, go no further than Forever 21's 3/4 sleeve leather jacket in a beautiful cream. Our favorite picks for the boys included the navy bomber jacket (faux leather), the timeless black bomber jacket (all leather and machine washable!) and the super chic grey leather sweatshirt (all leather but dry clean only). Pair your desired leather jacket with just about anything from dresses to jeans to skirts and more! Head over to WhatsWear for more fall fashion that won't cost you the whole season's salary.

The Perfect Little Jacket (For Under $100!)

I'm crushing for this BB Dakota Indigo Blue Marsh Jacket ($70 at chickdowntown.com). The jacket is a lightweight deep denim and the ruffles on the sleeve give the military look a much more softer feel. Pair it with a longer tee over skinnies (pants, jeans, leggings -- just learned this term in NY, ha!) for a more casual look. Plus it's totally affordable! When the weather gets more chilly wear a long sleeve shirt with color to make it pop like this yellow one shown here. Looove this look! To find out more, click on over to our friends at Coquette!
