Hot In The Hive: Retro-Style Internet Phone

    image

Do you have a gift for gab and talk on the phone almost constantly? Do you have a special place in your heart for all things obsolete and/or retro? Do you have a laptop that's almost as old as you are? If you answered "yes" to any or all of these questions, I may have the perfect vintage gadget for you! Urban Outfitters' Internet Phone (no, not that kind of iPhone) is about as unnecessary as laptop accessories get... that is, unless your computer doesn't have a built-in mic and speakers like most are made with nowadays. In that case, it's totally useful for finally carrying out successful Skype conversations and iChat video discussions (that's only assuming you've equipped your ancient computer with an external webcam) via a plug-in phone receiver made just for your computer. Otherwise, the retro-looking cyber accessory is still pretty covetable, for the sake of cuteness alone... and I guess it could also help keep the receiving end of your e-conversations on the down-low from snooping roommates. So in conclusion, it may not be the most mandatory addition to your shopping list, but the fun things never are, are they?

Aside from its abundance of flip-flops, short shorts, printed dresses and miniskirts, summer is also the season for some of the most anticipated movies of the year! Nothing beats a hot sweltering day like an impromptu movie date with the icy theater air conditioning on full blast! Not really a movie buff yourself? Let the stars be your guide (both Hollywood and celestial alike!) and get into gear for blockbuster season with a dose of Old Hollywood glamour and movie theater flair. Cancer girls can host their own movie marathons with an old-fashioned popcorn maker and, with the help of a high-quality curling iron by T3, Taurus ladies can recreate the pinup-style sausage curls of their favorite silver-screen sirens! Check the slideshow to see how your sign can get into the spirit of showbiz this week, just in time for the first wave of big-screen summer hits!

Hive 5: Less Clicky Sendy, More Writey Downy

I have a love-hate relationship with e-mail. While the convenience and real-time factor can't be beat, it introduces all sorts of issues. Why did he email and not call? Is it because he sounds like a twelve-year-old? If email didn't exist, would we even be talking at all? Why did I just cc the whole office with every detail of last night's, uh, festivities? Perhaps if we relied less on the web and more on the hand-written, things would be simpler. So I've come up with five things that are sure to inspire you to pick up a pen instead of clicking "compose." Check out my computer-generated SLIDESHOW to see what they are!
