Vintage Fashionistas Are Thinking Pink in October

by Mary Kincaid
Oct 23, 2009 10:21 AM PDT

For more than 20 years, October has been internationally known as Breast Cancer Month. It's a time for people, organizations and businesses to rally together to raise money for this cause, without forgetting, of course, that breast cancer strikes millions of men and women each year, and not just in October. The color pink was selected as a symbol for this fight. Why? Because while the vulnerability of this color represents the fear, pain, uncertainty and loss felt by those struck by breast cancer, pink's brightness also symbolizes the hope and strength found in each victim's personal fight. And while you might choose to don the now-famous pink ribbon to show your support this month, you might choose to go all out in all pink, too. If that's the case, click the slideshow for a selection of fabulous vintage finds in all some beautiful shades of pink.

Designer Lisa Salzer of Lulu Frost has designed a limited-edition bracelet available at LOFT stores during October. Five dollars from the sale of each bracelet benefits the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. This bracelet is designed with the vintage charm Salzer is known for, with multiple brass chains, one of which is wrapped with a silk fuchsia ribbon that ends in a bow. It is part of a capsule collection of jewelry designed by Salzer exclusively for LOFT - both in LOFT stores nationwide and online. Whether you wear it alone or layered with other jewelry for added drama, the bracelet offers an alternative to the conventional "think pink" ribbon. At $24.50, the bracelet is in keeping with LOFT's spirit of to-the-minute style at affordable prices. Head over to Couture in the City for more style and beauty news!
