In stark contrast to the prim and proper style that defines Blair Waldorf, her character on the mega hit Gossip Girl,Leighton Meester seemed to be channeling the laid back, easy-chic style of her fictional frenemy Serena van der Woodsen on a recent shopping trip in NYC. Wearing an airy boho Jill Stuart maxi dress (by far the biggest trend this season), slouchy hobo bag by celebrity favorite Rebecca Minkoff, gladiator sandals and large shades, Leighton's boho look is fun, flirty, carefree, and the overall perfect summertime style. Who hasn€™t grappled with those €˜blah€™ days when nothing seems to fit right or look good? Believe it or not, wearing something that will get you noticed is a great way to conceal those problem areas that you don't want anyone to notice, who knew?! Graphic patterns are super hot this season- from florals, to graphic black and white patterns, to art-deco inspired, to every other type of pattern you could possibly imagine- so tracking down a 'get noticed to not get noticed' item couldn't easier. Busy patterns forcing the eye to rove instead of honing in on one spot, hence camouflaging problem areas. A little tip to help you get it right is to remember that the taller you are the bigger prints you can wear. Petite ladies should take especial precaution and stick to smaller patterns (like small polka dots as opposed to oversized), which are more flattering and won't make you look like your small stature is being consumed. Check out my SLIDESHOW for some hot busy-patterned styles.

Leave it to indie darling Chloe Sevigny to pull off a look that is vintage, trendy, classic, and unique all at the same time. I spotted the Big Love star at the launch party for the Samsonite Black Label Trunk Collection- she€™s actually the face of the series, who knew! I was pretty bummed to discover she wasn€™t doing interviews, but luckily, I have friends in high places, who have friends in even higher places, and our good pal Micky Boardman - famed Paper Magazine editor and BFF to every noteworthy star and socialite - summoned Chloe over giving me just enough time to ask...

I always have to laugh when I read columns convincing women that they will look slimmer if they wear this top, these pants, this swimsuit. I mean really, is everyone else out to make us look fatter? So rather than just simply telling you what to go out and get, I€™m going to give you a few tips to make the most of what you already have. We€™ll start with tops. First things first. Ladies, get fitted for the right bra. Yes, the process is all kinds of awkward, but being without personal space for a few minutes is more than worth it once you see how well your clothes fit, and no joke, you can actually look around ten pounds thinner. Take that, cabbage soup diet!
