Nobody expects fall/winter lines to match their spring/summer sisters in the intensity and frequency of ROYGBIV hues. But the 2008 lines so far displayed at New York Fashion Week have still been remarkable for their obsession with blacks, grays, white, browns and taupes. Now, personally speaking, I think this is great. As a New Yorker, veering from the city's all-black uniform makes me feel vulnerable, on display - exposed. But when it comes to women's fashion, I like to see some playfulness, some pop, some proof that the designers were not working in windowless offices. Here then are some of my favorite colorful creations from the otherwise drabilicous Fall 2008 offerings.
