Francois Nars, creative director and founder of the iconic cosmetics company Nars, is celebrating 15 years of success with a new project that honors two of his favorite past times. As an avid photographer, Nars will release 15 portraits of specially selected celebrities wearing his products in a new, limited-edition pictorial. Each celebrity chose his or her own favorite Nars product and their photograph reflects the product's inspiration. "15 x 15" will be sold exclusively at the project's site for 30 days starting November 12th at 8 PM, with only 1,500 copies up for grabs. Each book costs $80, but all the proceeds will be donated to charities hand-picked by the celebrities featured. Some of the faces to look forward to include Marc Jacobs, Isabella Rossellini, Amber Valleta, Naomi Campbell, Olivier Theyskens, and Shalom Harlow. Indulge Your Chocolate Craving With Matte Mocha Shades

    image

Say "so long" to the shimmering bronze and sandy shades associated with summer beauty. Fall makeup is all about the rich matte shades, reminiscent of a nice warm mug of hot chocolate or your morning mocha. Though neutral matte colors may seem slightly "blah" in comparison to your shimmer dust and glitter eyeliner, these velvety pigments do wonders in warming up your face and skintone when worn alone, and can even be punched up when paired with a touch of gold gloss or highlighter. Go for a softer version of the smokey eye with a dark chocolate shadow, or sweep a rosy mocha sheen on your cheeks for a fall-festive flush. Be careful though, these shades won't only have you tearing up the makeup department -- they'll probably make you want to take a detour to the nearest candy aisle, too. Take a look at the slideshow for some hot chocolate makeup picks!

Wearable Neon Makeup Shades, No Rave Required

While we've thankfully moved past that '90s flashback of fluorescent clothing and accessories, it's important to note that neons haven't been banished from the planet for good -- they've just relocated to the beauty department! I know, the idea sounds terrifying, but used with the right shades and a subtle hand, bright pops of color are an emerging makeup trend that's making feminine features stand out in a feisty, fresh and modern way. While trying to shed her goody-goody Gossip Girl stereotype and make a name for herself as her punk band's frontwoman, Taylor Momsen has been spotted flaunting neon lips and smoky eyes -- but you don't have to be a rock goddess in training to pull it off. Sticking to one feature at a time, you can go with an electric blue eyeliner to make your peepers pop, or highlight your summer tan with contrasting tangerine nails, for example. Take a look at the slideshow for some wearable neon shades!

Fiercely '80s Eye Makeup Straight Off The Marc Jacobs Runway!

    image

It was hard to ignore the '80s makeup that dominated the runways for Fall. Marc Jacobs sent his girls down the runway with a fierce-looking club kid eye makeup look and Versace and Zac Posen both featured "Debbie Harry meets Jerry Hall"-inspired makeup. Marc Jacobs wanted the eyes to take center stage -- so much so that he asked makeup artist Francois Nars to create 65 different makeup looks on the 65 models! What makes this eye makeup look different than just a normal smokey or dark eye? Unlike a heavy-lined eye, these '80s-inspired looks take it a step further, with the shadow up to the crease and often all the way up to the eyebrow, creating a large oval around the eye. To cop the look yourself, accentuate your usual blacks and browns with cobalt blues, deep greens, bright purples, reds, fuchsias, and even some glitter (not too much -- we're not going for Boy George here). An easy way to get a more street-appropriate version of the look is to shade the eye all over with a sheer eyeshadow of peach, gold, or soft blue. Lightly rim the entire eye with a black eyeliner (no need to be perfect since you will be covering and blending with shadow), then use a darker highly-pigmented shade like an espresso or navy on the lower lid and blend towards the crease and outer corner. Check out the slideshow for some great products to get the look, and click "See Video" to watch Marc Jacobs' makeup master Francois create the looks for the Fall '09 show.

    Go Bold With Red Lipcolor!

    image

Red lip color is all the rage for fall beauty, and the range of reds covers everything from the subtle to the bright and daring. There's a lot of mileage in being bold with this look - after all, if you're going to go for red, you may as well really go for it instead of just doing it half way. Luckily, many bold reds are available in drugstore brands that won't break your budget, like L'Oreal, Almay and Cover Girl, as well as classic luxe brands that have added staying power like Dior, Nars and Chanel. This Purminerals lipstick, for example, will only set you back 15 bucks, and in a color like Madrid Matte Bright Red, there's no chance that your lips will go unnoticed.
