Each tree is handblown by Italian artisans and undergoes a special tempering process to create an ornament of delicate strength whose artisan origins are revealed through unique variations. About 12" high at star tip, our tree holds an assortment of yellow, amber, pink, deep rose, and gold glass ornaments.

In the winter of 1984, a prolonged freeze struck olive country in northern Italy and many mature trees were lost. Rather than burn or shred the wood, an enterprising group of artisans preserved it. Today, nearly 25 years later, they create special limited-quantity kitchen and home pieces from the character-rich wood. These swirly, colorful boards create a dramatic underscore for anything you’re serving. Food-safe. Hand wash. Exact widths will vary 5–10". Handmade in Italy.

The island of Murano, just off the coast of Venice, was originally devoted to glassblowing in the 13th century. When I visited this past spring, I saw for myself how little the traditions have changed. The glass is still made from the sand on the islands and the artists still blow each glass piece individually to create ravishing works of art like these bells. With multicolored swirls, these delicate handblown, hand-colored glass ornaments make a glittering holiday statement. To avoid breakage, these bells have no clappers. This unique piece reminds me of those memories. It's made from genuine railroad tie "end pieces" from the early 20th century with two antiqued metal candle cups mounted on top to hold either 3" or 4" diam. pillar candles. One of my favorite Northern California artists makes these hearts exclusively for NapaStyle in her shop. She reclaims the metal rings used to hold wine barrels together; then she forms them by hand into these beautiful ornaments.
