Video Style Steal: Leighton Meester Shows Us How "Good Girls ...

Gossip Girl Leighton Meester is used to being a fashion icon by now. While it may have been a bit unexpected to find her break into singing with her featured spot in Cobra Starship's single "Good Girls Go Bad," it certainly came as no surprise to see that she added some seriously fashionable fierceness to the video. And while the covetable wardrobe she dons as she sneaks into the deli-turned-"speakeasy" setting may not be the only reason the video is nominated for a VMA for Best Pop Video, it definitely helps amp it up, no doubt! And the best thing about her style? It's easy to make it your own without breaking the bank! With a hot cropped blazer and dramatic smoky eyes, you won't be nearly as incognito as Leighton is in the video, but you'll definitely have a stylish night out! Essence Takes A Look At 30 Days Of Rihanna's Style

While Rihanna may have been hiding under her umbrella and taking a breather from the music scene ever since the Chris Brown fiasco, she hasn't lost the following of her faithful fans... and her fellow fashionistas! A strong girl like Ri-Ri isn't one to let a scandal get her down for long, and her eclectic and edgy style hasn't suffered any despite her tiny break from the spotlight. From LA to NYC and beyond, she's partied it up with pals in metallic leggings, relaxed spa-style in flowing printed dresses, rooted for the Lakers courtside in funky sneaker heels, and embraced her inner rocker-chick with moto jackets and a buzzed hairstyle. The Essence blog tracks her fashionable footsteps over the recent months as she enjoys the single life and gets ready to embrace the limelight yet again! Head over to take a look at the slideshow!

Video Style Steal: Pink Goes Moto-Girlie In "Funhouse"

While Pink herself is right in the middle of her worldwide tour for her fifth studio album, Funhouse, her singles and in-your-face videos haven't taken a break from their chart-topping around the rest of the globe. Her latest vid for the album's title track is characteristically "Pink" in its rebellious tomboy vibes (after all, I don't know many girlie-girls who would dare frolic through a burning junkyard, much less while dressed head-to-toe in white), yet her wardrobe is surprisingly flirty at the same time. Then again, who else would you expect to find the perfect balance between feminine lace and badass biker chick? I may never understand her love-hate relationship with husband Corey Hart, and I'll be less likely to ever have the guts to be as bold as she is, but I can at least take a page or two from her book of style! With white distressed jeans and black belted boots, you can cop her outfit pretty easily -- I just don't recommend committing arson while you're wearing it. Do you love interesting jewelry? How about jewelry that supports a good cause? Now how about interesting jewelry that supports a good cause and is made from something that musicians like Ani DiFranco, Benji Madden, Carlos Santana or John Mayer have used? Wear Your Music creates unique bracelets from old guitar strings that would normally just get tossed. Musicians donate their used guitar strings to Wear Your Music, who then create bracelets from them and sells them, giving the proceeds to the charity of the musician's choice. It's a win-win situation for everyone: you get a cool bracelet with bragging rights that your favorite musician actually touched it, the landfills are a little less full, and charities benefit from the proceeds! Check out the impressive list of celebrity donors at the Wear Your Music site, and don't forget to click over to Splendicity for the latest style updates!

Video Style Steal: Kelly Clarkson Proves Our Lives Would Suck ...

    image

Kelly Clarkson has already marked 2009 as the year of her comeback with her record-breaking new single "My Life Would Suck Without You" and her upcoming fourth album "All I Ever Wanted" due out this March... and I'd say it's about time! Our favorite American Idol winner has slipped under the radar for a year or two, and we single folk have certainly missed her solid girl-power singles (there hasn't been another liberating breakup song to belt out the car window quite as satisfying as "Since U Been Gone") and soulfully poignant power ballads to get us through those romantic rough patches. And in her absence, plenty of new female performers have stepped up to the plate to both fill in the void on the charts and serve as our fashion muses -- such as Katy Perry's naughty pin-up girl style and Duffy's jazzy throwback feel -- but there just hasn't been any other performer to do the casual-yet-chic rocker chick vibe justice quite like Kelly can. While some Clarkson critics may say her new song lyrics seem strangely self-sacrificing and sunny compared to her previous ex-bashing persona we all knew and loved, her video for "My Life Would Suck Without You" shows that even though her bitter lyrics may have sweetened up a bit, she's still got her playful-yet-empowered edginess and sophisticated rockstar style, not to mention tons of hair-whipping energy to boot. With lots of layered jewelry, the right cropped blazer, and the legs to pull off a pair of shiny leggings as pants, you can put your own spin on both Kelly's power-performer style and her joyriding girl-next-door get-up she rocks in the video. Take a look at the video yourself, then check the slideshow to see how you can channel Kelly's kick-ass comeback looks- no stylist needed!
