Nelly Furtado Explores Her Fashion Mishaps On MTV's "What ...

We all have a few outfits we've worn in the past that, when confronted with the pictures, makes us want to burn every piece that went into the outfit along with all the photos in a big evidence-ridding bonfire. Who hasn't scrolled through photos of themselves on Facebook and with a quick click of the "remove tag" button thought, "What was I thinking?!" Luckily for us non-famous folk, our fashion mishaps and momentary lapses of judgment aren't printed on every newsstand tabloid, paraded on national television, or discussed in Twitter trending topics. On MTV's web series, "What Were U Thinking?" famous fashionistas like Kim Kardashian and Kristin Cavallari get a chance to defend their style choices, give praise to designers, make fun of their own faux pas, and provide us insight into some of their biggest "WWUT?" moments (for example, was Nelly's "I'm Like a Bird" get-up for real?!). Click "See Video" to watch the show's most recent guest, Nelly Furtado, dish on her favorite funky wardrobe highs and lows, then click over to the show's official site to see past guests' episodes and the show's October 12th finale with "Twilight's" Ashley Greene.

Lo Bosworth Dishes On Style And The New Season Of The Hills!

    image

Lo Bosworth's most memorable quip about fashion may be "I have not found a cute white dress, like, ever. They're all trashy and tacky." This, of course, was spoken right before the screen cuts to a shot of Kristin Cavallari in a clingy sleeveless eggshell number (meow!). Die-hard watchers will remember that infamous scene from Season 1 of "Laguna Beach," where we were first introduced to much of the cast that now makes up "The Hills" milieu. Now, it's been five years... has Lo managed to ever find a decent white dress? "I have!" she laughed during our interview last week. "I just got a great white shift dress from Topshop that's beautifully decorated with little black beads all over it. White doesn't really do great things for me from behind, though." Her candidness and reversal of judgment demonstrate a lot about her. Loyal but level-headed, the Laguna/Hills star may have strong opinions but isn't inflexible about viewing them from another angle. It's that same distinct yet laidback quality that also marks her personal style, which I happen to love -- easy yet elegant. Her wardrobe must-haves? "I like to really combine high-end with low-end stuff, especially things that are more 'evening' with others that are more casual," she shares. "[My style] is a good representation of a lot of LA fashion, and fashion just in Southern California: jeans, an amazing leather jacket, and a great blouse, purse, and heels... it's a good look: casual and just easy." I also asked Lo about stylists (she doesn't use one and puts her looks together mostly on her own), favorite designers (Alexander Wang, Phillip Lim, Lanvin), and beauty obsessions (her new Shu Uemura sheer orange lip gloss). So will Lo, who's just been given FLING Chocolate's first-ever "Best Fling" honor for "her confidence in being naughty, but not that naughty," be getting up to any trouble on the new season of "The Hills?" "For the next few episodes of the show, you're going to see me moderating between a lot of people. I try not to get too involved in the drama and be the calm between the storms!" Let's see: that's "moderating," "drama," and "storms" all in one description. Yep -- sounds like "The Hills" is back! Tune in to MTV for the season premiere on Tuesday, September 29 at 10pm! Stylehive's 2009 MTV Video Music Awards Fashion Roundup!

    image
Lisanne Silverman on Sep 14, 2009 1:21 PM PDT
The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards were full of things to talk about- an inspiring, amazing dance-filled tribute to Michael Jackson? Check. Lady Gaga in multiple insane getups? Check, check. Kanye not having control of his mouth yet again? Check... how rude. And who could forget Taylor Swift's adorable subway station performance of "You Belong With Me," Beyonce's hip-shaking "Single Ladies" show, Pink's trapeze acrobatics, and, yes, the "New Moon" sneak peek? It's given us plenty to blog, talk, and tweet about, but let's not forget the outfits! Sparkly and short seemed to rule last night, but looks both dramatic (Gaga) and demure (Swift) stood out just as much, if not more. Click the slideshow to see our favorite looks from the VMAs! Video Style Steal: Britney's Equestrian-Style Looks Are On ...

    image

I don't know what it is about Britney Spears that makes me compulsively root for her through thick and thin. I guess a part of me is still in denial, thinking she's going to bust out onstage with a boa constrictor or silver chair and start magically performing with the energy and enthusiasm of Britney circa 2001. Even without all the flair and fanfare of her high-octane performance past, Britney is still doing pretty well for herself, now out with her new video for "Radar," the fourth single off her latest album Circus. This time around, Britney leaves the barely-there lingerie get-ups and goes for a sort of equestrian-chic look while swooning over a sexy polo player within the video's gorgeous Santa Barbara setting. While I'm not sure I fully dig the whole slow-motion horse imagery, her outfits are undoubtedly cute... and the best part? Most of what she's rockin' in the vid is made by Candie's (Brit is the brand's current spokesperson), so the looks can be found for super-cheap at Kohl's! Click "See Video" to see the looks in action, then check the slideshow to see how you can pull off your own interpretation with a mix of similar and exact pieces straight from the video!

Best Dressed Celebs Leighton Meester, Lauren Conrad And More ...

At the MTV Movie Awards (Oscar's red-headed cousin thrice-removed), the "Twilight" team won a zillion awards, host Andy Samberg sang an ode to turning one's back on explosions, Sacha Baron Cohen "offended" Eminem, and ... yadda yadda. What about the clothes? We were glued to the red carpet to see the latest in celeb styles. While there were some misses such as Kristen Stewart pairing a gorgeous Yigal Azrouel dress with Converse sneakers, there were quite a few hits too. Hayden Panettiere and Kristen Bell went (very) LBD, Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port were a study in contrasts, and Leighton Meester -- well, all you Blair Waldorf fans are going to have to see it to believe it. Nary a headband to be seen! Check out our friends at SoapNET for a slideshow of their favorite looks.

Tweens And "Twilight" Take Over The MTV Movie Awards

    image
Alex Gambardella on Jun 1, 2009 2:22 PM PDT
Imagine an awards show during which the biggest honorees of the night bear the names Miley Cyrus, Zac Efron, and Ashley Tisdale, and the film "Twilight" completely annihilates all hopes for even one "Slumdog Millionaire" trophy. No, I'm not talking about some alternate preteen-ruled universe or your worst nightmare (well, on second thought, maybe I am) -- I'm referring to the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, where the musical high school kids and the undead heartthrobs swept about 90% of the winnings and left no crazy fan-girls unsatisfied. Before Andy Samberg kicked off the event with an epically hilarious opening clip and before the teeny-boppers got to gushing accepting speeches for their popcorn trophies (and dropping them -- *cough* Kristen Stewart *cough*), their fellow young Hollywood crowd tore up the red carpet in sexy (and some not-so-sexy) party dresses, strappy boots, leather jackets and... leopard-print leotards? From Megan Fox (what was up with her hair?) to Lil Mama (yikes), the ensembles weren't all home-runs, but they certainly weren't boring! Check the slideshow for some hit and miss highlights straight from the one of the most "lively" red carpets the event has seen! Photo Credit: PR Photos
