VITRA W.W. Stool
Philippe Starck is best known for his erotic forms and his bizarre, often disingenuous public pronouncements. Starck's modern designs are unmistakable - saucy amoebic minimalism with and irreverent twist -- and revealing. A recurring motif in Starcks design vocabulary is the elongated horn shape, exemplified by the W.W. Stool (also known as 'standing aid'), designed in 1990 as part of a fantasy office environment for the film director Wim Wenders, and put into production by VITRA in 1992. The technique of hard casting allows the flowing organic form to beautifully capture the materials fluidity. Sand-blasted lacquered aluminum in blue-green finish.
