Celebs Strut Their Stuff In Catwalk Creations

There used to be a clearer distinction between models and actresses. You could do both, but usually one skill set was stronger than the other. These days, though, many of our favorite celebs are gracing the covers of magazines and pages of photo-shoots in positions that used to be mainly reserved for the models. Celebrity faces are seen all over the place now in venues and mediums outside of movies and movie promotions. Being seen and celebrated for their art (music and movies) was one thing, but now people are turning to celebs for style sense and fashion tips. Logically, celebrities are answering by stepping out in trendy ensembles taken straight from the runway and parading themselves around for their adoring public. Diva superstar, Beyonce rocks this sparkly Balmain dress and it looks a lot better on her than it does on the model! Check out the slideshow for more celebs strutting their stuff in runway creations! Which ones looked better on the celeb than the model? You be the judge!

Stylehive Predicts Cycle 13's Top 3 Before ANTM Even Starts!

    image
Alex Gambardella on Sep 8, 2009 10:20 AM PDT
Finally, the shorties get their shot at the title! If you're like me and have been counting down the days to the premiere of America's Next Top Model's most talked-about season yet, then I probably don't even have to tell you that Cycle 13, which features models who are 5'7" and under, starts tomorrow night at 8 on the CW. And while I'll be the first to admit that I was pretty terrible at predicting last season's top 3 (well, one of them made it!), that doesn't mean I'm going to give up! After carefully scrutinizing the contestant profiles on the CW site, along with a very thorough analysis of past winners (thanks to nonstop ANTM marathons on various cable channels), I think I've made a much more educated guesstimation of this upcoming season's Top 3. Check out the model bios and interviews at The CW, then click "Read More" to view my predictions and see if you agree! Photo Credit: CWtv.com

Seventeen Mag Goes Retro For September Issue

Of all the high-fashion, high-concept, high-flying September magazine covers out there, this is our fave. Behold the first-ever cover of Seventeen magazine, from September 1944, which will also be the subscription cover of their upcoming September 2009 issue in honor of their 65th anniversary. We love that the cover model hasn't changed: a young, pretty, all-American girl. But everything else has! Notice the single cover line? The first edition keeps it simple with "Young fashions & beauty, movies & music, ideas & people," instead of the standard shtick you see on teen fashion magazines today ("284 ways to change your look" anyone?). The magazine was pretty cheap too, only $0.13. Today, it's $2.99. Head over to TheFrisky for more fun fashion industry news.

Have you spent far too much time checking out street style sites like The Sartorialist, angstily wondering why it's that girl and not you mugging for Scott Schuman's famous lens? If so, the time has come to ditch the voyeur role and become the stalked. Style blog Refinery 29 has put together a handy dandy table to show you exactly how. With helpful tips like "pile on" expensive accessories, smoke a cigarette in Soho or ride a vintage bike, it's your one stop shop on the road to internet fashion fame. Not really into all the effort but want to be momentarily e-famous nonetheless? There are a couple of shortcut options: being "model pretty" or an old, rich European man. Easy, right? Check out the full chart here.

Sao Paolo Fashion Week's Hottest Male Models, Just Because

    image
The Frisky on Jun 26, 2009 7:17 AM PDT
Some girls have all the luck-- and just this once, I was one of them. I just returned from Sao Paulo Fashion Week in Brazil where I got a chance to check out dozens of the country's most amazing brands from international stars Alexandre Herchcovitch to local-- and very campy-- heroes like Dudu Bertholini, co-designer of Neon. As wonderful as the haute couture was, it didn't hold a candle to the hot boys who modeled them. Some were blonds, others brunettes, others red heads-- and all sexy. There really were too many to choose from, but I made the Herculean effort required to narrow it down to my top ten.
