Lindsay, Shakira, And Mischa Glam It Up At The Whitney Gala

    image
Alex Gambardella on Oct 22, 2009 8:17 AM PDT
The red carpet was certainly rolled out last Monday night at the annual Whitney Musuem Gala for its parade of high-profile attendees from across the film, fashion, and art industries. While guests like Shakira, Chanel Iman, and Alexa Chung discussed their own artistic talents (or lack thereof) over filet mignon appetizers, drooled over Gerard Butler, and listened to Jennifer Hudson's show-stopping mid-dinner performance, other gala-goers couldn't help but just people-watch. After all, Lindsay Lohan was quite a... vision in that daringly short gold dress. And Taylor Momsen's thigh-high slit complete with fishnet stockings was an interesting sight in the context of such a black-tie affair. Both were reportedly mistaken for the event's host, Donatella Versace -- which can either be perceived as somewhat of a compliment or... not so much. New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010: Twinkle by Wenlan

    image

Designer Wenlan Chia of Twinkle by Wenlan described her Spring 2010 collection as "the spirit of Yoko Ono with the attitude of Blondie." Known for her colorful knits and playful accessories, Chia's latest collection at New York Fashion Week was more about the flashes and pops of color rather than wearing them all at once. I can definitely see the bohemian meets '80s looks on her celeb clients like Lauren Conrad, Mischa Barton, or Kate Hudson! From easy going separates fit for the beach to sweet and innocent dresses that can go from brunch to the dance floor, Twinkle has got you covered for any occasion. One of my favorite looks included a black and white cardigan with a tie front as well as a black and white geometric print tunic top. Beauty looks sure to be on trend next spring are a dewy face, a bright tangerine lip, white nails, and tousled bed head hair. Click on my slideshow to see some of my favorite looks from the show!

New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010: Lacoste

While Fashion Week's weather has been becoming increasingly blustery, Lacoste's Spring/Summer 2010 show provided a much-needed vacay for its audience, channeling the carefree, sunshine-y vibe of a summer beach day with its boardwalk-inspired runway. With one main focus in mind- simple, sporty chic- the collection managed to be straightforward and effortless while still maintaining the bright and playful energy we've grown to expect from the brand. The models donned updated versions of classic tennis-inspired pieces like mesh sneakers, polo dresses, and cuffed shorts, but also threw in some unexpected twists, like hooded rompers, tailored blazers, and chic summery dresses that added a resort-like relaxed style to the brand's usual polished, prep school flavor. Take a look at the slideshow for a glimpse at some of the looks to come this spring!

Which Celeb Guest Was Most Fashionably Fired Up For JC ...

We're all about a hot recession-friendly designer collabo, and in tough times like these, we're definitely not the only ones! In honor of Charlotte Ronson's new line for JC Penney, "I Heart Ronson," celebs and socialites alike gathered at NYC's Lighthouse for barbeque fare, beach volleyball, and killer dance tracks, thanks to the designer's famous DJ siblings, Mark and Samantha. The collection's fall line is said to include lots of fun florals and floaty blouses with on emphasis on flirty low-maintenance style. And while the designer and her wardrobe were naturally the focus of the evening, plenty of stylish stars were present to help share the spotlight. Mischa Barton and Alexa Chung were among some of the launch celebration's fashionable attendees, decked out in their favorite Ronson duds. Vote below on which party guest you think stole the spotlight! Photo Credit: PR Photos

Hippie Headbands: Boho Chic, Or A Recipe For A Bad Hair Day?

    image
Pauline Montupet on May 14, 2009 8:19 AM PDT
I'm all about headbands. They save us from bad hair days and add a bit of preppy flair when needed. Yet there is one headband trend that has some people as divided as Red Sox and Yankees fans. That trend is the horizontal hippie headband look. We saw this trend starting last spring, and it still seems to be going strong. Repeat offenders include Ashlee Simpson, Nicole Richie, Whitney Port and Mischa Barton. Barton has even struck up a partnership with headband designer Stacey Lapidus, making, you guessed it... bejeweled hippie headbands. They have the unfortunate effect of making your hair look like a mushroom cap and make even the coolest hipster look they are trying too hard. Clearly, I'm not a fan, but what do you think of the hair-raising trend?
