Summer is the perfect season to show off sweet and sexy styles and what better way to do it than in a Poko Pano swimsuit! At Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week SWIM in Miami, Poko Pano showcased their slightly whimsical, borderline quirky and definitely provocative line of swim and beachwear. From light, bright colors perfect for a sunny day to patterns like fun florals and pretty polka-dots, Poko Pano promised a fun-in-the-sun feel to their daring bikinis and monokinis. Strapless tops and plunging halters oozed feminine sensuality while interesting details and deliberate mixing and matching made each piece unique and eye-catching! Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week SWIM Runway: Cia Maritima

Well, if someone's gotta bring the Latin flavor to the Mercedes Benz SWIM runway, it might as well be Brazilian beachwear designer Cia.Maritima! The show started off relatively slow, giving us a glimpse of some undoubtedly unique watercolor animal prints that put a soft spin on a traditionally wild design. Things slowly began to simmer with the introduction of boldly printed string bikinis and then reached an eventual boiling point with the parade of dare-to-bare cutout bikinis and structured monokinis that left everyone feeling hot, hot, hot! It wasn't all about the skin-baring ensembles though- the designer wowed with an impressive array of sheer and Grecian-inspired caftans and cover ups, and the details weren't to be missed either- the bold cuffs and strappy arm embellishments were just as alluring. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week SWIM Runway: Red Carter

A swimsuit is a swimsuit is a swimsuit, right? Not if it's a Red Carter design! They challenge your idea of a conventional one-piece or bikini and have you lusting after the interesting and daring details of their suits. Red Carter isn't tentative or apologetic about their extreme and avant-garde outlook. There are, of course, colorful and lively patterns that stimulate the eye, but it is the space-age metallic leggings or edgy hardware that garner the most attention. It's the optical illusion patterns and the oversized, brightly colored, Lolita-like details that make you sit up a little straighter and stare a little longer. The strapless tops and wild animal prints earned more than a few double-takes... and possibly neck injuries! Beach coverings were elegant and luxurious. Men in speedos and barely-there briefs have never been my thing, but if all men looked like the male models did in Red Carter's bold and edgy "trunks," then I may just have to rethink my stance! Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week SWIM Runway: Luli Fama

My first thoughts upon seeing this year's Luli Fama swimwear collection? Pageant bikini competition protestors obviously have never seen one of her runways! Decked out in fluffy sausage curls (sounds like something at IHOP, I know), plenty of red lipstick, and exuding the feminine confidence of Rosie the Riveter, the show's models were a perfect balance of girlie-sexy and in-your-face tough, putting a fresh new spin on the pin-up girl that frankly could probably kick your butt. The collection itself boasted a fun and flirty variety of retro prints like black-and-white polka dots with modern twists like neon ruffled trim.. and of course the looks wouldn't be complete without red pearl necklaces, giving the collection a sort of overall "June Cleaver lets her hair down" vibe. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week SWIM Runway: TIBI

If there's one thing a Tibi runway never fails to lack, it's plenty of color... and this year's Miami Swim show was no exception! While there was little variety in the cut of the suits, which mainly alternated between minimal-coverage bikinis and one-pieces bearing deep necklines (with a couple one-shoulder numbers thrown into the mix), the abundance of bright, tropical prints seemed practically bottomless! If the tribal-gone-funky theme was not apparent enough with the models' cuffed forearms, gold metal sandals, and idol symbol jewelry dangling from their ears and necklines, the suits' many patterns -- from neon geometric tribal designs to tropical orchid-inspired florals -- cleared up all possible doubt. Even among the sea of shocking pink and turquoise suits, a particularly gorgeous magenta tunic dress stood out, trailing a flowing train of silk in its path and closing the show in the fiercest way possible. New York Fashion Week Runway: Badgley Mischka's Pared-Down ...

    image

For dress design duo Mark Badgley and James Mischka, simplicity just doesn't cut it when it comes to eveningwear. Known for their elaborate beading and dramatic trains, Badgley Mischka surprised audiences by opening the show for their Fall 2009 Collection with a few comparatively understated yet graceful ensembles - silky black skirts and draped dresses - with many of their typical telltale touches absent. While these preliminary pieces seemed extremely well-done in their construction and completely wearable in their practicality, the designers' faithful fans couldn't help but wonder what had happened to all the glitz and glamour they had all come to love and expect from such a show. However, drama lovers and sparkle seekers in the audience soon swallowed their initial worry and near-disappointment when the runway's looks took a turn for the extravagant, offering a shimmering parade of fancier formalwear that seemed much more faithfully characteristic of Badgley Mischka, including a floor-length metallic gold gown with a plunging neckline and crystal-encrusted tulle-fluffed dresses. While the evening's looks seemed slightly more subtle than what past collections have boasted, the curve-clinging shimmering gowns and satin-draped ruffles shined on and stayed true to the elegance that the designers are known for, if not in a more wearable, practical fashion.

Colors: lots of black, shiny gold and silver, metallic blue, merlot
Silhouettes: draped necklines, belted waists, layered tulle and ruffles
Celeb Sightings: Aisha Tyler, Kat DeLuna, Kim and Khloe Kardashian
