Runway Wrap-Up: Stylehive's Top 10 Looks From New York ...

Despite the mayhem that Fashion Week always brings upon us over here at the Hive, even from all the way across the country, we have to say we are a little sad to see it go. I mean, now what are we supposed to do? Sit around drooling until next spring when all of these gorgeous summery pieces finally hit the stores? In the meantime, we can take comfort in the fact that based on the designers' Spring/Summer collections, the forecast for next year is undoubtedly hot, hot, hot! Looking back on all of the runway parades we've covered in the past couple weeks, we can't help but notice the abundance of fun party frocks -- from Christian Siriano's tiered ruffles to Zac Posen's neon sheaths -- and the welcome resurgence of bright, cheerful hues (after all, what's more springy than color?) that seem to insist that high-impact shades are clearly going to be the new black! As for the late-night dance-floor hoppers, who can forget Whitney Port's designer debut with all of those slinky metallic numbers? And while the celebrity attendance record may have been abysmal (aside from the usual Anna Wintour and Rachel Zoe sightings), I'm sure the starlets will still be rocking these runway looks on the red carpet come spring! Take a look at the slideshow to reminisce with us over the Fashion Week highlights!

New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010: Max Azria

    image

Backstage at the Max Azria show, there was a poster up on the wall which read: "Be Strong. Be Confident." These commandments definitely came to life on the runway, both in the attitude of the models and the amazingness of the clothes. The Max Azria Spring/Summer 2010 collection merged clean sophistication with a rebellious attitude. Dresses crafted from crepe, chiffon, and silk georgette were slashed and deconstructed, as noted in the program, "to reveal the understated beauty of clean lines and sleek sophistication." The pared-down palette got an occasional kick with flashes of delicate beading and metallic cages. While this collection was heavily dress-oriented, there were also some incredible separates thrown into the mix. I especially loved the silk georgette beaded tops. While I loved pretty much every look, the final few really sent my heart aflutter. There was a long white-crepe deep-V dress that was so sexy yet so elegant, a black crepe slash dress that was too hot to resist, and two beaded numbers (one in white, the other in black) that were so stunning, you'll just have to see for yourself in the slideshow!

Miley Cyrus to Auction Off Wardrobe

    image

No matter what your age, it's hard to deny that Miley Cyrus is a good dresser. We only wish we could dress as well as she does and we're way older than her 16 years. But now is your chance to score the clothes in her closet. Yes, her actual clothes. Miley is auctioning them off! We can't even imagine how many clothes Miley owns. Things she's probably only worn once and then put them away. You could go to Walmart and get some super cheap items from Miley and Max Azria's new clothing line. Or you could participate in the auction for Miley's actual clothes. And one item up for auction is the chance for you and your friends to go on the road with Miley! Miley is partnering with Ebay to put her clothes up for auction and she's not even keeping the proceeds. All the money made will go to the Pappy Cyrus Foundation, the Cyrus family's personal charity that helps children in need. So, whether you just want to score one of Miley's outfits or you want to bid on the chance for a meet-and-greet with her, head over to the auction and start bidding! It starts today and will run until August 13. Want to do more than just dress like Miley Cyrus? Want to wear her actual clothes? Click on over to our friends at Limelife!

New York Fashion Week Fills The Shows' Front Rows With Plenty ...

    image

Among the fashion elite who are actually granted access to the highly-exclusive Bryant Park tents are some of Hollywood's most noted celebrities -- after all, what kind of star would you be if you weren't dressed by the best of the best in designer royalty? Some famous fashionistas like Kellie Pickler and Jessica Stroup couldn't stay away from the glamour of the runway and were spotted warming up the front row seats of several designers' shows, including Badgley Mischka, Pamella Roland, and Lela Rose; meanwhile, other more low-key VIPs saved their appearances for just their favorite style mavens, like Mickey Rourke for Domenico Vacca. While New York Fashion Week is ultimately about the clothing, many stylish starlets' presences in the front row are inevitably photographed even more frequently than the designer threads themselves (oh, the price of fame), but most celeb attendees made sure they shared the spotlight and showed their support by arriving in their favorite pieces from the headlining label, like Brittany Snow in her gorgeous beaded Diane von Furstenberg dress. I know being famous must be exhausting, but I really can't think of anything I wouldn't give to switch places with one of those front-row ticket holders just for a day (preferably Herve Leger day, please), even if I had to be Paris Hilton. Check out the slideshow for more pictures of stylish superstars, both in the audience and backstage at some of New York Fashion Week's hottest shows!

New York Fashion Week Runway: Max Azria Explores Ethereal ...

    image
Sabrina Newman on Feb 24, 2009 5:22 AM PST
For the Max Azria Fall 2009 collection, designing duo Max and Lubov Azria went futuristic, goth, and seriously sexy. The mostly-black collection struck a balance between the rough and refined with looks ranging from transparent and revealing to those with decadent layers of lace, silk chiffon, crepe, and velvet. Black bodysuits, see-through lace, leather pants, and velvet jackets were all key players in creating the overriding vampy feel while softer styles like draped dresses and embroidered gowns conveyed the sort if modern romance the brand is known for. The accessories also worked to keep the rock-n-roll sensibility alive and even the more romantic styles were toughed up with edgy add-ons such as extra long leather gloves, turn-lock belts, zippered leggings and platform boots rounding out every look. The program noted that this collection was about exploring the ethereal seduction of the dark side and we loved every minute of it. Click the slideshow to see more.
