  Phillipa Gee attended an introductory course in jewellery making while enrolled at Wellington Teachers' Training College. She soon discovered her heart lay with jewellery and went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art, majoring in contemporary jewellery, at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.

  Artist Statement: 'I'm a jeweller with an eye for fun, and my motivation to make stuff comes from the delight I get playing with materials and processes. I'm curious about objects, what they're made of and how they work. I use soft-tech and low-tech ways to shape materials into jewellery, which I want to be durable and comfortable to wear. To me eyewear is one of the most humorous areas of body adornment, as well as being a site for functional and elegant eyeglasses.'

  Fran Allison is a contemporary New Zealand jeweller. She is also a lecturer in jewellery at the Manukau Institute of Technology in Auckland. Her jewellery, which addresses ideas of re-formatting and past histories, takes on the form of flowers in this exhibition. On close examination they draw the viewer immediately to reminisce of long summer days in the garden, of making daisy chains, and of times gone by.
