Mary-Kate And Ashley Olsen To Design Juniors Line For JCPenney

    image
Lisanne Silverman on Oct 28, 2009 12:20 PM PDT
It's no secret that everything the Olsen twins touch turns to gold, whether it's a trend or a business endeavor (and they've proven themselves to be more than successful in the latter- just look to The Row and Elizabeth & James, plus their shoe and jewelry lines). Their latest move? They've signed a deal with JCPenney to design a juniors brand called Olsenboye. Clearly aimed at the younger crowd, the line will contain denim, tees, and other casual looks including shoes and bags, all priced between $20 and $50. It'll be available in 50 JCPenney stores and online starting November 6th! If you can't wait until then and are in the NYC area today, stop by Washington Square park and catch the Olsenboye Treat Truck where you can preview the collection. Halle Berry And Mary-Kate Olsen Love Genetic Denim!

    image

The color of your hair and eyes, or whether you have long legs or not all comes down to your genes. So while there's little we can do to change physical appearance short of drastic plastic surgery, we use clothing to highlight our best features (and to hide the not so good ones). That's where Genetic Denim comes in. Unlike some companies that create cookie cutter styles that may not look good on everyone, Genetic Denim has a different perspective. They want to accentuate your body type rather than squishing your body into the same mold. Some of my favorite celebrities have been seen out and about in Genetic Denim! Halle Berry paired a shredded tee with The Shane, a cigarette cut jean while out with her daughter. Mena Suvari was seen at Fashion Week wearing The Davis which is a sexy update of the classic boyfriend silhouette. Other stylish celeb fans include Mary-Kate Olsen, Agyness Deyn, and Jennifer Garner. Found in-stores and online, it's easy to get your own pair. Just be ready to smile for the camera when you slip these on!

Meet Manolo, Mingle With The Olsens, And Party With Opening ...

Any fashion week brings with it a slew of star-studded parties, but next month's spring 2010 shows in NYC will be ushered in by an absolute extravaganza- Fashion's Night Out. The September 10th event will feature everything from model and celebrity appearances to in-store events and meet and greets, and of course, shopping! It's being put on by Vogue, the CFDA, NYC & Company, and the City of New York, with the idea that engaging the city in the fun and excitement of fashion and shopping will restore consumer confidence once again. So what can we expect? For starters, Anna Wintour will appear at Macy's in Queens (wow, who would've thought) to sign t-shirts (again, wow), Andre Leon Talley will host a game at Bergdorf's. Coco Rocha will be doing a special performance at DKNY, Sasha Pivovarova will be showing her art at Henri Bendel, and it-girls like Harley Viera-Newton and Alexandra and Theodora Richards will be DJ-ing about town. Want more? Manolo Blahnik will hold a meet-and-greet, Oscar de la Renta will sing, Opening Ceremony is having a block party, and Chanel will have a customized handbag studio! Still not excited? Mark your calendars: Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen will be bartending at Barneys- is it bad that I want someone to order a black and Tanner? For more information on Fashion's Night Out, including the festivities in other cities around the world and a more complete list of events, go here!

    Vintage Fashionistas Go Boho!

    image

First there was Boho, then Nouveau Boho, then Boho Chic, and now it's Foho. Or maybe that was Boho, then Boho Chic, and then Nouveau Boho...whatever. Add in French Bobo and a recent reference I saw to Woe-ho and it's enough to make a girl's head spin. But any way you look at it, and whatever you want to call it, women seem to love this easy-breezy style of seventies silhouettes, billowy blouses, crochet trim, soft worn-in denim and traditional embroideries. While Sienna Miller, Kate Moss and the Olsen twins might have started the craze, and others may tell you it's on the outs, I still know plenty of gals who aren't willing to give up these comfy clothes just yet. This is one style where authentic vintage clothing is way cooler than new. So just click the slideshow and go boho!

Last week, the stars aligned at New York's South Street Seaport to celebrate the launch of Matthew Williamson's second collection for H&M, the first of which debuted in stores only a week before. Performances by Grace Jones and music by DJ Michel Gaubert and DJ Hanna Hanra provided entertainment while hosts and hostesses dresses as sailors added a beachy, tropical vibe to the soiree. Mary-Kate Olsen, Helena Christensen, and Lucy Liu came out to admire the collection, which is set to arrive in stores on May 14. Williamson himself had this to say: "Working with H&M has been such a wonderful experience. The global launch event in New York City was a spectacular soiree. I was delighted to see so many of my friends from the fashion world support this collection." The collection will feature colorful prints and sophisticated tailoring, in addition to a men's line which will be Williamson's first. Click the slideshow to see party pics!

Get That Mary-Kate Tough-Chic Look With LD Tuttle Shoes

    image

Like funky footwear? Then its time to discover LD Tuttle shoes. Tastemakers like Natalia Vodianova and Mary-Kate Olsen have already been seen sporting the avant-garde shoes all over town. Designed by Tiffany Tuttle out of her Los Angeles studio, the line has been a fashion favorite for a few seasons now, and Tuttle's designed shoes for RVCA by Erin Wasson and VPL by Victoria Bartlett. The Ivy League-schooled designer decided to pursue fashion and went back to school for a graduate degree from FIT. Working for Givenchy in Paris and then for Rebecca Taylor, she realized her love of shoes and jetted off to Milan to learn the craft. As a former ballet dancer, she understands and has studied the shape of the leg and arch of the foot that helps her create the most flattering shoe possible. Now she turns out shoes that have a raw yet refined tough girl edge. The spring collection will meld perfectly with the season's tough-chic fashions, or punk up even the most prim of dresses. I'm just dying to get my hands on the 'spectre' open toe boot. Check out the slideshow to see which LD Tuttle shoes are your favorites!
