Brighten Up Your Fall Beauty Routine With Yellow Eyeshadow

    image
Pauline Montupet on Oct 30, 2009 8:21 AM PDT
Bright primary colors and neon shades are perfect for waking up a winter wardrobe, and this trend is making its way into the beauty department as well. Pastel yellow is too weak to stand up to the bold clothing shapes that we're seeing right now-- these yellows are anything but mellow; they're bright, bright, bright. And while they may seem hard to wear, in actuality yellows and golds accent blue and green eyes and bring out the gold flecks in brown eyes. Sweep some over the entire lid for a look that's shiny and bright. Or, take a cue from the Marc Jacobs runways and pair with some smoky black liner for a high contrast look. You can even sweep it on the brow bone and out to the temple. Check out the slideshow for some products to get the look.

Francois Nars, creative director and founder of the iconic cosmetics company Nars, is celebrating 15 years of success with a new project that honors two of his favorite past times. As an avid photographer, Nars will release 15 portraits of specially selected celebrities wearing his products in a new, limited-edition pictorial. Each celebrity chose his or her own favorite Nars product and their photograph reflects the product's inspiration. "15 x 15" will be sold exclusively at the project's site for 30 days starting November 12th at 8 PM, with only 1,500 copies up for grabs. Each book costs $80, but all the proceeds will be donated to charities hand-picked by the celebrities featured. Some of the faces to look forward to include Marc Jacobs, Isabella Rossellini, Amber Valleta, Naomi Campbell, Olivier Theyskens, and Shalom Harlow. Embrace the '90s With A Drawstring Bag!

Ever since Alexander Wang came out with his handbag line, the too-cool totes have been seen on celebs from Mary-Kate Olsen to Kristin Cavallari, blogged about to death, and coveted by yours truly. One of my favorites was the 'Diego' bag-- a drawstring bucket bag that would have been perfect with any outfit! Alas, it's been long sold out everywhere so I've been on the hunt ever since. Drawstring bags always remind me of the purses my mother had in the 90s, so while their modern cousins have retro roots, they're totally current and fashion-forward. Drawstring closures are handy when you need to pack a whole day's worth of stuff without jamming a zipper. Best of all, they come in all different styles from totes to hobo bags! I've been eyeing the Classic Parina Bag by Gustto in bright yellow. Urban Outfitters offers an affordable alternative to the famed Alexander Wang bag with the Deux Lux Drawstring Bucket Bag. Check out my slideshow for more drawstring bags!

Pump Up The Stam With V Magazine's Eighties-Inspired Editorial

    image

Jessica Stam stars in an awesomely eighties-inspired spread in this month's V Magazine, on newsstands tomorrow. The editorial showcases Stam working out in some of fall's hottest looks, with an equally hot trainer, because everyone knows you should never stretch in a Balmain jumpsuit alone. You could pull a thread, or possibly a muscle. Other exercise ensembles include a Marc Jacobs sweater and boots, Adidas by Stella McCartney leggings layered with Chanel leg warmers, and a pair of seriously fierce Louis Vuitton over-the-knee boots that will scare off anyone who may be inclined to steal your spot on the elliptical machine. We're not sure whether we're more motivated to shop or sweat after a peek at the photoshoot, but we'll be getting in our cardio somehow, that's for sure. See the slideshow for a preview of the spread, and be sure to pick up this month's issue of V magazine tomorrow!
