Quite likely one of a kind, this terrestrial globe has a frame of black iron which supports a white cased glass ball forming the Earth. Longitudinal iron ribs support the globe, as well as marking the degrees in the planet's circumference. Continents are cast in brass, and mounted to the iron ribs. Further embellishment is provided by cast brass aquatic creatures, mermaids, and a ship. Affixed to the North Pole is a cast brass star, undoubtedly standing in for the real North Star. When switched off, the glass globe is white, but the original blue bulb creates blue oceans when lighted. Italy Circa 1950

The map is held in a custom setting (just over 2cm wide) behind magnifying resin and hangs from a linen cord with a sterling silver clasp. The silver pendant is oxidized for an urban/antiqued sort of finish.

It's so strange to me, who remembers from a long time ago, that we can now promote businesses in South Africa. But we can, & w/ conscience uncompromised. This seems to be a great one; again, the Madonna Inn gone PostMadonnaModern. One room is like an emergency room done in shades of crimson & blood, another empty of all color other than the six microphones which undoubtedly cause some grand after midnight aural eruct eruptions. Pictured herein & belownoted seems a giant pink & pinker fried egg sensurrounded by maps. Just wish I understood what the fried egg symbolized but still..... Gotta Luv It. [I was just waiting for the room w/ giant fake spiders {see hotel name} but, alas, it existed not.] &, I swear, these seem to go for $60US [sixty bucks] a night! Take that, Days Inn!
