It might be a little early to start shopping for Christmas gifts (unless you're an overachiever... or just really smart and on top of things), but just in case you want to cross me off your list ahead of time, here's what you can get me! Think of the Sephora Blockbuster Palette as the ultimate fix for makeup addicts. Like a shiny new espresso machine for caffeine junkies, or Willy Wonka's chocolate river to an insatiable chocoholic, this thing is the mother lode of cosmetics combo sets. With more than 84 eyeshadows, 60 lip glosses, and a ridiculously impressive array of blushes, eyeliners, and all the necessary applicators, you'll be more than set to achieve the alleged 60,000 different looks possible. And the added bonus? Everything folds and packs neatly into its compact mirrored case. Cue the "hallelujah" chorus!

    Price: $48
Who Found It: xgalexy was the first to add the Sephora Blockbuster Palette to the Hive.

It's always hard to dump someone. There are hurt feelings and harsh words, maybe a few tears, definitely some cocktails and desserts smothered in chocolate, caramel, and Oreo cookie crumbles. Well, get out the Edy's, Sephora. Everyone knows that Sephora and I (and Sephora.com) have been going steady since I was 15, but we're currently on the rocks. There's a new makeup store in my life, and its name is BeautyTicket.com. Yup, although Sephora was the love of my life, I just can't control my feelings for this much better beauty stop that recently rocked my world. But it wasn't just a one night fling; this is serious. I'm falling in love. This amazing website carries super great brands like YSL, Smashbox, Stila, Tarte, Urban Decay, and Pop, for up to 85% off. Wow. I'll give you a minute to think about how freakin' amazing that is. I'm talkin' Smashbox wooden 4-shadow/blush palette, originally $45, now $19.00. Be Your Own Makeup Artist With These Instructional Beauty Buys!

No matter how many cosmetics ads you rip from your magazines or grainy tutorial videos you try to study on YouTube, replicating the exact makeup look you see done by the pros is not often an easy feat. Not everyone has the skill, time, or coordination required to be as creative and as beauty-dexterous as the trained makeup artists of the world, and even if you're pretty gifted with an eyeshadow quad and brush, chances are there are loads of makeup tricks you just can't seem to master on your own. Luckily, more and more our favorite big-name beauty brands are making their collections more novice-friendly with product intro kits and how-to instructional sets that are sure to make Hollywood-worthy glamour accessible to even the most easily intimidated. Have a huge array of shadows but don't know how to apply them to achieve the perfect smokey eye? Maybelline can tell you where on your lid each shade belongs! Got the eyes down pat but need a little help with the brows? Anastasia's at-home brow kit even provides the stencils! Take a look at the slideshow for a few of my favorite instructional products and sets!

Back-To-School Beauty: 10 Products To Keep In Your Locker

    image

Yup, it's that time of year again. The dreaded first day of school is fast approaching. And what better way to soften the blow of having to kiss your summer freedom goodbye than makeup shopping? After all, three-ring binders and dorm room decor aren't the only things you need to stock up on when it comes to preparing to hit the books again. In order to really be ready for the semester ahead (and treat yourself in the process), you ought to look at some portable locker loot that you can keep on-hand for mid-day makeup emergencies and touch-ups during passing periods. For example, imagine how much sweeter the day would be if you could stop by your locker for a quick spritz of your favorite fragrance or a swipe of blush to add some color to your just-saw-your-test-grade ghostly complexion! Even if you're way past your locker days, check out the slideshow for some handy to-go products you can keep in your schoolbag, desk, or car for the long and studious days ahead!

Fiercely '80s Eye Makeup Straight Off The Marc Jacobs Runway!

    image

It was hard to ignore the '80s makeup that dominated the runways for Fall. Marc Jacobs sent his girls down the runway with a fierce-looking club kid eye makeup look and Versace and Zac Posen both featured "Debbie Harry meets Jerry Hall"-inspired makeup. Marc Jacobs wanted the eyes to take center stage -- so much so that he asked makeup artist Francois Nars to create 65 different makeup looks on the 65 models! What makes this eye makeup look different than just a normal smokey or dark eye? Unlike a heavy-lined eye, these '80s-inspired looks take it a step further, with the shadow up to the crease and often all the way up to the eyebrow, creating a large oval around the eye. To cop the look yourself, accentuate your usual blacks and browns with cobalt blues, deep greens, bright purples, reds, fuchsias, and even some glitter (not too much -- we're not going for Boy George here). An easy way to get a more street-appropriate version of the look is to shade the eye all over with a sheer eyeshadow of peach, gold, or soft blue. Lightly rim the entire eye with a black eyeliner (no need to be perfect since you will be covering and blending with shadow), then use a darker highly-pigmented shade like an espresso or navy on the lower lid and blend towards the crease and outer corner. Check out the slideshow for some great products to get the look, and click "See Video" to watch Marc Jacobs' makeup master Francois create the looks for the Fall '09 show.

Necessary Luxuries: Beauty Products Worth the Bank!

    image

These days, more than ever, it's important to be smart with your hard-earned money. Frankly, it's rather unfashionable to go drop serious dough at Barney's and walk out with several thousand dollars of clothing that won't be in style next season. However, when it comes to beauty products, some investments are worth it. Of course, keeping your face, hair and nails well-coiffed never goes out of style. I've compiled some of my favorite pricier beauty products for your investment consideration. At the top of my list is Chanel's Precision Gommage Microperle Eclat, which is a finely beaded exfoliating gel that leaves your face smooth and smelling like roses. What's more, if you use just a dollop once or twice a week, the $45 tube can last you a year. As long as we're talking Chanel, have you tried their Nail Vernis colors? I know $23 seems like a lot for nail polish, but it goes on smooth and lasts a long time, with a nice shiny finish. One of my daily favorites is Philosophy's Hope in a Jar Moisturizer, which is an extremely lightweight, oil-free, hydrating moisturizer. Ranging from $15 for half an ounce to $60 for four ounces, it ain't cheap, but let's just say seeing is believing with that product. Check out my slideshow for other necessary beauty luxuries!
