Just because Earth Day isn't even remotely close to approaching doesn't mean you shouldn't take every opportunity to treat our planet right! Tarte's Be Good To Your Mother (Earth) Tote Set is a trio of their SPF Lip Sheers encased in recycled aluminum that comes in a super-cute reusable cotton tote. Use the tote for more eco-friendly grocery shopping, or just use it as your everyday carry-all to spread the green love during the official Earth Day "off-season." And what better reason to splurge on a beauty buy than saving the world?

Harajuku Lovers has adorable nylon and canvas makeup bags that have the ultimate "awww" factor. From travel bags to brush cases, these super cute bags are the perfect accessory to hold makeup and toiletries. They are easy to clean and fit perfectly into any purse or travel bag, small or large. My favorite is the Summer of Lovers Bag Collection. I also adore the I Love Ice Cream line and the Preppies bags, made especially for anyone with a preppy streak and a "fatal attraction to cuteness." I might just have to get my hands on a travel bag for my trip to Hawaii next month! Exclusively sold at Sephora, the collections are priced from $20 for a brush case to $48 for a travel bag. Necessary Luxuries: Beauty Products Worth the Bank!

These days, more than ever, it's important to be smart with your hard-earned money. Frankly, it's rather unfashionable to go drop serious dough at Barney's and walk out with several thousand dollars of clothing that won't be in style next season. However, when it comes to beauty products, some investments are worth it. Of course, keeping your face, hair and nails well-coiffed never goes out of style. I've compiled some of my favorite pricier beauty products for your investment consideration. At the top of my list is Chanel's Precision Gommage Microperle Eclat, which is a finely beaded exfoliating gel that leaves your face smooth and smelling like roses. What's more, if you use just a dollop once or twice a week, the $45 tube can last you a year. As long as we're talking Chanel, have you tried their Nail Vernis colors? I know $23 seems like a lot for nail polish, but it goes on smooth and lasts a long time, with a nice shiny finish. One of my daily favorites is Philosophy's Hope in a Jar Moisturizer, which is an extremely lightweight, oil-free, hydrating moisturizer. Ranging from $15 for half an ounce to $60 for four ounces, it ain't cheap, but let's just say seeing is believing with that product. Check out my slideshow for other necessary beauty luxuries!

Keep Your Cosmetics Collection In Order With A Makeup ...

I'll admit it -- I'm a major beauty junkie. And I don't only mean that I own a lot of cosmetics, know every product that Sephora carries (or has ever carried), and that I love to compulsively buy tons and tons of makeup, as if it's an addiction, and hardly actually use any of it regularly. I actually literally have it piled all over the place in my room, bathroom, purse, and tote bags... like piles of junk. If you're anything like me and the inside linings of almost all of your bags are tarnished by a glittery residue mess from one too many screw-tops left askew, it's time to invest in a makeup organizer or train case. Face it -- we beauty mavens have a lot of makeup, most of which has probably cost us a pretty penny (and it definitely has collectively!), so it's important to keep it all in good condition for maximum use and minimum mess until it's time to chuck that empty tube, jar, or pot in the trash! Whether you need a nice big compartmental case for storage (gotta love Caboodle!), or a cute compact tote for easy travel, there's a shape, size, and function to suit any kind of beauty-sorting need! With all of your beauty goods so neat and organized, you might find yourself surprised at what a great variety you have and maybe even be inspired to try some new tricks, not to mention save some money by not re-buying things you totally forgot you already have! Check out the slideshow for some convenient cases -- if your collection is as big as mine, you might even need more than one!

Hot In The Hive: Stila's Mother's Day Gift Set

Your mother may insist that you're impossible to shop for, but the truth is, picking out gifts for Mom can be even trickier. Gone are the days when you could get away with fashioning a bouquet made of pipe cleaners and tissue paper or finger-painting a floral masterpiece for your kitchen fridge display. If we're telling it like it is, it's not just the thought that counts, so unless you're exceptionally crafty, an acceptable Mother's Day gift requires a trip to the mall (or at least a considerable effort in the realm of online shopping). So how do you bridge the generation gap and choose a woman-to-woman gift that's Mom-appropriate and something she'll actually enjoy? Let Stila (and Sephora!) help you out! The limited edition My Mother, My Hero gift set packs Stila's four top beauty basics (shadow, bronzer, plum lipstick, and mascara) in a chic gold-brushed clutch to create an essential set of products that are gorgeous yet subtle and basic enough to be worn by both demure and diva mamas alike. It's the perfect combination of thoughtful, fun, yet practical for any mom that likes to feel pretty, especially on a day dedicated just to her!

Portable Beauty Products For Glamming On The Go!

    image

If you were to take a look into my purse, you'd realize instantly that it's actually just my makeup bag in disguise, crammed to the zipper with all kinds of cumbersome, clunky products and their accompanying brushes that I threw in at the last-minute for use in a makeup emergency that never actually happens, or in the rare occurrence in which I would find myself forced to open up my own MAC counter in the middle of the street at any given moment. The truth is, I only end up actually using a select few of the whole array of knick-knacks I haul along with me every day, and even though I come across plenty of opportunities for touch-ups at various points in my daily routine, less than half of the tools and products are actually practical for portable use while on a bumpy bus ride or while standing in line for coffee with your hands full. Luckily, plenty of our favorite beauty brands have caught on to this busy-girl dilemma and have developed "to-go" versions of their most popular must-have beauty basics, making their products much more travel-friendly (no brushes or applicators required!), genuinely usable anytime anywhere, and overall much more low-maintenance! With conveniently sleek nail polish pens by OPI, self-sharpening lip pencils, and even a wireless mini flat iron, you'll find yourself saving room in your purse and your makeup bag, not to mention looking your best the whole day through! Check the slideshow for more beauty products for the busy gal!
