I'm probably not alone when I say I have a love-hate relationship with e-mail- while the convenience and real-time factor can't be beat, it introduces all sorts of issues- why did he email and not call? Is it because he sounds like a twelve-year-old? If email didn't exist, would we even be talking at all? Why did I just cc the whole office with every detail of last night's, uh, festivities? ...and the list goes on. Perhaps if we relied less on the web and more on the hand-written, things would be simpler. And while I'm not advocating rejecting years and years worth of technological developments, I do think we could all use a little old-fashioned correspondence... you know, the kind that involves a real, tangible mailbox, i.e. that thing outside that you're convinced is only good for bills and wedding invitations.
