Fashion Week London: Luella Bartley Spring 2010 Ready to Wear ...

Luella Bartley recently presented her Spring 2010 Ready to Wear Collection at London Fashion Week. Her new collection goes dressier and less cheeky than we've come to expect from Bartley. It would be easy to imagine the late Jackie Kennedy wearing these pieces in 1965. Silhouettes were very feminine, with princess seams, pinched waists, and padded hips. She also showed several summer weight car coats in very ladylike "trapeze" shapes in happy, gorgeous colors, like a not-too-baby blue and a wonderful lipstick-y red. Other pieces included puffy dresses with velvet polka dots, sweetheart necklines, and Peter Pan collars. Bartley's recent collections have been far more precious with an abundance of frilly touches like dainty flower prints, ribbons, and tulle. By comparison, the latest collection is much more dressed up, despite the sugar pinks and lemon yellows. Even the one or two dresses with tulle trim appeared more sophisticated than one might expect from a designer who does things in an unapologetically girly way. My Sugarland: Your One-Stop Destination For UK Designers!

Why is it that Brits always seem to have it better when it comes to fashion? Maybe it's just that they have a much cooler and edgier selection of designers and boutiques. The boutique My Sugarland, brainchild of stylist Zoe Lem, has been a favorite haunt of London's fashionistas and a mandatory stop-by every time I'm overseas. They have the best selection of hard to find Brit designers such as a PPQ, Steve J & Yoni P, and Belle Sauvage, just to name a few. Now, for all of us non-Londoners, we're in luck since they've opened the cyber doors of their online store. They have easy navigation tabs to help you find exactly what you're looking for and they offer styling tips and secrets (so maybe we do have a chance of getting that effortless Kate Moss-esque street style)! It's one seriously fashionable one-stop online shop!

The Frisky Asks: How Much Do We Love This i-D Cover?

    image
The Frisky on Aug 27, 2009 3:27 PM PDT
A few months ago both Chanel Iman and Sessilee Lopez tweeted about a "major" moment in fashion and a surprise cover. That should have been clue enough for some folks to guess. Now the secret is out: the two young models, along with Jourdan Dunn and Arlenis Sosa, grace the cover of i.D magazine's September issue. The iconic photo features all four girls with corset-inspired tops, figure-hugging skirts, matching black gloves and shimmery makeup. It was shot in London by Emma Summerton and styled by i-D fashion director Edward Enninful. Besides featuring four of the hottest models of the moment in one sitting, this issue is distinctive for yet another reason: It is the only non-urban magazine to opt for women of color on its September cover. Experience The Best Of Minimalism And Luxury At London's ...

Whenever I travel, I'm either looking for a simple and cheap place to sleep for a night or an all out luxurious experience in a beautiful suite. Rough Luxe in London can be described as somewhere in the middle. Located in the up-and-coming King's Cross, Rough Luxe calls themselves as "A little bit of luxury in a rough part of London. A little bit of rough in a luxurious London." and they couldn't have said it better. The small and intimate hotel may only have 9 rooms (and just 3 have private bathrooms) and the chipped paint and stripped walls may seem a little dingy, but it certainly adds to the artsy starving artist vibe. Looks aside, the service makes up for everything. The manager Leo and his dog Spud make their guests feel right at home with dinner recommendations, a tour of their gallery and evening drinks with other guests. So if you're looking for something in between a student hostel and the Four Seasons, consider staying at the Rough Luxe Hotel the next time you're in London. Take a peek at my slideshow to see more!
