Seeing virtually psychedelic color on the runway is nothing new these days, but nobody does bright and bold quite like Custo Barcelona. Brothers David and Custo Dalmau came up with the idea for Custo while on a motorcycle trip across the states, and when they returned to their native Barcelona, Custo was born. Inspired by the lax attitude of southern California, the line features shirts, suits, and even swimwear in their signature patterns and illustrations. Their Winter 2010 show at Lisbon Fashion Week was an experiment in texture and pattern, where sheer overlays and vibrant mohair-like fabric met embellishment in the form of sequins, stripes, and fringe. Peacock feather details, sheer florals, and rosettes were mixed and matched with structured jackets, bodycon skirts and short sleeved tops. Menswear looks were no less tame, with two-toned, acid-washed and graphic printed suits toned down with sneakers and lace-up boots. Somehow the seemingly outlandish colors and textures meshed flawlessly, with vibrant blues, purples, kelly green, coral, and black tones forming the palette. Favorite looks included full, intricately ruffled skirts with vertically placed strips of contrasting patterned fabric, and a brightly striped top and delicate floral skirt combo reminiscent of Marc by Marc Jacobs. If winter looks this good, I can only imagine what's in store for spring and summer! Click on the slideshow to see more from Custo Barcelona at Lisbon Fashion Week. Photo credit: PR Photos
