Lindsay, Shakira, And Mischa Glam It Up At The Whitney Gala

    image
Alex Gambardella on Oct 22, 2009 8:17 AM PDT
The red carpet was certainly rolled out last Monday night at the annual Whitney Musuem Gala for its parade of high-profile attendees from across the film, fashion, and art industries. While guests like Shakira, Chanel Iman, and Alexa Chung discussed their own artistic talents (or lack thereof) over filet mignon appetizers, drooled over Gerard Butler, and listened to Jennifer Hudson's show-stopping mid-dinner performance, other gala-goers couldn't help but just people-watch. After all, Lindsay Lohan was quite a... vision in that daringly short gold dress. And Taylor Momsen's thigh-high slit complete with fishnet stockings was an interesting sight in the context of such a black-tie affair. Both were reportedly mistaken for the event's host, Donatella Versace -- which can either be perceived as somewhat of a compliment or... not so much. The Hottest Over-The-Knee Boots For Fall

    image

So what if you're not Sienna, Paris, Gwen, Heidi, or Hayden? You can look just as hot by scaling your stems like they do with the tallest pair of boots you can find. Whether you're sporting a short skirt or a pair of skinny jeans, some over-the-knees or thigh highs are the perfect way to warm your legs this fall. Although our budgets couldn't get us the same shoes that our favorite celebrities rock, it's still possible to get this look that's become trademark of some of our favorite female stars. Unlike our cowboy and ankle boots, these boots are capable of flashing an intriguing slice of skin when paired with short bottoms-- and showing less skin can often be sexier as it leaves the curves of your legs to the viewer's imagination. However, like our other closet companions, you can make a casual or formal step in tall flat boots or a high-heeled pair. Find a look that works for you in the slideshow!

LimeLife Dubs Lindsay Lohan's First Show A Fashion Fail

    image

What? Too harsh? Don't tell us... we're not the ones judging her. After Lindsay Lohan's first fashion show for her new line at Ungaro, the critics are weighing in. And they don't have very many nice things to say. We knew from the start that it was probably a mistake for Emanuel Ungaro to hire Lindsay Lohan as a fashion consultant. Sure, we think Lindsay can look great from time to time, but a wardrobe full of leggings does not a fashionista make. She recently had her first fashion show with the house, and if you were to talk to her, you'd think the show was a huge success. Lindsay said it was "certainly more than I could have imagined, more than I'd ever hoped for... I couldn't be happier." Really? She couldn't be happier? Because if you were to talk to fashion critics, it would seem like Lindsay could have been a whole lot happier after that first fashion show. In fact, Women's Wear Daily called Lindsay's line "an embarrassment." And the Washington Post called the show "a cynical fiasco." Everyone seems to be in agreement that the show was a disaster. The line, which consisted of a lot of fuchsia and bright orange, didn't impress anyone. Lindsay called the fashion show "pretty much a fairytale," but it sounds like one of those fairytales with a really bad ending to us. We wonder where this leaves Lindsay now. Will she stay on as a consultant at Ungaro or will they get rid of her fast? Let us know your thoughts in comments, then get more celebrity and fashion news from our friends at LimeLife! New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010: Alice + Olivia

    image
Sabrina Newman on Sep 16, 2009 4:22 PM PDT
Alice + Olivia is always high on my must-see list during Fashion Week. The amazing clothes, the fabulous Payless shoes that prove affordable can be fabulous, the creative set-ups and designs (previous themes have been "Alice in Wonderland," "Breakfast In Bed," "Hippie Queen," etc), and the celebrity sightings-- it's always a blast! To present the Alice + Olivia Spring 2010 collection, designer Stacie Bendet transformed a raw New York City gallery space into a fashion presentation/rock concert. Inside the vast space were three sections with a group of models in each. The looks were absolutely stunning, as always, and combined uptown chic with a downtown edge and an underlying Parisian-chic sensibility. Stacey set out to represent girls "predicating sexuality, cleverness and charm," drawing inspiration from the women who influence her. This season also marked the unveiling of the collaboration between A+O and jewelry line Erickson Beamon (I seriously want all of it!). Soft colors such as pale pink, soft purple, and neutrals were amped up with sexy silhouettes and gorgeous draping while other looks teamed ultra-femme styles with more edgy and androgynous pieces. Pretty prints, sequined frocks, slouchy pants, and structured jackets were also standouts, especially this one look that teamed an ultra mini slinky sequined dress with a short sleeved metallic jacket-- amazing! Click the slideshow to see pictures from the celeb-filled presentation.

Lindsay Lohan Working for Emanuel Ungaro?!

    image
Alex Gambardella on Sep 14, 2009 7:25 AM PDT
Lindsay Lohan finally has a job... in fashion! And we hope it will involve more than leggings and self-tanner. We're not really sure how we feel about Lindsay Lohan's fashion sense (errr), but apparently Emanuel Ungaro trusts her as he just allowed her to sign on to his company as artistic advisor. One thing is for certain, Ungaro is going to get a whole lot of attention having Lindsay working for them. And Emanuel knows this -- even if we don't love it, we'll definitely be paying attention to it. We can't wait to see how the new Ungaro line looks. Do you think people will take well to it or do you think they'll avoid anything bearing Lindsay's name? Get more details over at Limelife!
