    New York Fashion Week Fills The Shows' Front Rows With Plenty ...

    Among the fashion elite who are actually granted access to the highly-exclusive Bryant Park tents are some of Hollywood's most noted celebrities -- after all, what kind of star would you be if you weren't dressed by the best of the best in designer royalty? Some famous fashionistas like Kellie Pickler and Jessica Stroup couldn't stay away from the glamour of the runway and were spotted warming up the front row seats of several designers' shows, including Badgley Mischka, Pamella Roland, and Lela Rose; meanwhile, other more low-key VIPs saved their appearances for just their favorite style mavens, like Mickey Rourke for Domenico Vacca. While New York Fashion Week is ultimately about the clothing, many stylish starlets' presences in the front row are inevitably photographed even more frequently than the designer threads themselves (oh, the price of fame), but most celeb attendees made sure they shared the spotlight and showed their support by arriving in their favorite pieces from the headlining label, like Brittany Snow in her gorgeous beaded Diane von Furstenberg dress. I know being famous must be exhausting, but I really can't think of anything I wouldn't give to switch places with one of those front-row ticket holders just for a day (preferably Herve Leger day, please), even if I had to be Paris Hilton.     New York Fashion Week Runway: Lela Rose Blends Texture And ...

    Lela Rose presented a breathtakingly wearable collection at New York Fashion Week, bringing refreshing bursts of color to an understandably neutral season. Floral skirts and color blocked tops popped against a background of charcoal tights and solid under layers, while tweed vests and houndstooth coats brought texture and dimension to the looks. Generous bursts of chartreuse silk added offbeat elegance to dresses and skirts, and deep purples offered a 'safer' option for those looking to expand their arsenal of neutrals. At times the shades simply stood on their own, but watercolor dresses and captivating ombre dresses put a dreamy spin on the Fall 2009 color palette. The collection ended with an all-too-short sampling of the designer's signature cocktail dresses and timeless silk chiffon gowns, with plaid prints and gilded fabrics lending a nod to the trends we'll still be seeing in the months to come.

    New York Fashion Week Trend Report: Asymmetry On The Runways

    You don't have to be in the front rows to tilt your head at one of Spring 2009's most notable trends. Designers have been dabbling in asymmetry for some time now but this time around, one-shouldered dresses were put front and center, a significant departure from previous seasons where the daring look seemed to be pushed to the sidelines. Max Azria looked at asymmetry from a different angle with a one-shouldered, bias-cut gown with a front halter strap, while Marc Jacobs indulged in his signature offbeat style by sending a model down the catwalk in a quirky, single shoulder-baring top. Nicole Miller layered a structured asymmetrical shift over a crisp shirt dress making the look oddly workplace appropriate, and BCBGMAXAZRIA's coral-pink asymmetrical dress was draped so beautifully, giving the illusion that it was falling off the model- intentionally, I'm certain.     For Spring 2009 Lela Rose gave her signature sporty cocktail aesthetic a funky ethnic twist drawing inspiration from the kaleidoscope of colors, prints and shapes found in African tribal wear. With ultra femme and prints cut in relaxed and loose silhouettes, this collection radiated effortless glamour that was feminine and extremely wearable. Beautifully structured cocktail frocks abounded with sporty separates like cuffed ankle pants, track jackets and shorts thrown into the mix. All of the fabulous ensembles were worn with shoes from the Lela Rose for Payless collection which draws upon the details and fabrics from the seasonal collections with peep toe wedges with plaid check and satin, wooden peep toe pumps dress sandals with bows, and peep toe flats with frayed ribbons.

    Trends: ikat, plaid, ankle pants, faille, dip dye, drop waists;
