    Runway Inspiration: Embellished Tights

I have never met an embellishment I didn't like. From loads of crystals on a plain old tee to a fully jewel-encrusted mini dress, I'm definitely guilty of loving all things sparkly and shiny. As if the jeweled trend couldn't get any more popular, we now have bedazzled legwear. Armani and Miu Miu gave us socks and Doo.Ri, Ungaro and Zac Posen showed tights that were beaded, jeweled and printed to perfection. They're a great way to upgrade some of your already stellar fall looks with a rather small investment (this is, unless you've got your sights set on the pair shown at Miu Miu... those will set you back $435). Cynthia Rowley makes a great pair of jewel encrusted black ones, or if you're feeling a little rock 'n roll, a pair covered in studs. Or check out Coco Rosa's blog for DIY tips and check out her etsy shop. Check out the slideshow to see all the fancy legwear you'll need this winter.

Would You Wear Heart Print Tights? What About Polka Dots?

It's not just about colored tights this fall. Pick up a pair of colorful patterned tights with cute stripes, hearts, and lines. I love these V Stripe Light Nylon Tights ($14 at Urban Outfitters) and these All Over Heart Tights ($16 at Topshop). It's a great way to bring some fun to your wardrobe. Alexa Chung Loves House of Holland Tights

The fancier, the better seems to be the trend for legwear these days. From crazy colors to hearts and polka dots and even floral print and bedazzled, tights are anything but basic black. House of Holland, most famous for their oversized logo slogan tees, has collaborated with the hosiery line Pretty Polly and came up with some crazy ones at a really great price (10 GBP or about 15 USD). They have already been spotted on it girl Alexa Chung and singer Little Boots. The kooky line of legwear comes in four "look at me" shades and five different designs that range from a sheer "alphabetights" motif to a cheeky take on stockings with the "mock stock." The major hit from the line? The color blocked tights that are right off of Holland's Pantone-inspired runway show. Going from opaque to sheer in bold color blocks, they're available in basic black or blue, pink, green and lilac for the more adventurous. As if these could get any cooler, each pair comes in a little House of Holland paper coffee cup! Get them before they sell out at www.mytights.com or www.johnlewis.com.

Are Baggy, Footless Tights In Your Fashion Future?

    image

I'm all for most hosiery trends, whether it be two-toned, crazy-patterned, or studded leg wear. And I've never been an opponent of "tights as pants," as long as it's done tastefully. But I have to admit that I don't know what to make of Wolford's Voile leggings/footless tights. Isn't hosiery supposed to be fitted, not baggy? I have to say that these look like the cheap stockings sold at drugstores and bodegas, which are barely adequate when you're in a bind and create a very unsexy-looking leg. These leggings, however, aren't inexpensive, and retail for about $62. They not only look weird (and not in a good eccentric way) and cost too much, but are also impractical. I can't think of any way to rock these that wouldn't make the wearer look short and malnourished. Well, I guess if you're trying to look thinner, these might do the trick, but would you really want to risk having your style license revoked? I didn't think so. Head over to TheFrisky for more!

Fall Look: Keep Your Gams Warm and Stylin' at the Same Time

For those of us Stylehivers in the northern hemisphere, cooler temperatures will quickly be arriving. For practical purposes, that means that bare legs will also soon become a distant memory. That doesn't mean you need to relegate your legs to a dull wardrobe of solid gray, black, white or brown tights, though. There are many exciting and fashionable patterns available to keep things interesting even if the weather outside is dark and dingy. Some are even conservative enough for the office. Check out my slideshow to find your favorite pattern for your chilly gams!
