Real Leather Jackets For Under $250!

Oh, the leather jacket. Never before has one piece garnered so much attention in the "save or splurge" category. You know the pros and cons of each by now, so let's jump ahead to a much more exciting debate: real vs. faux leather. Faux leather is usually easy to distinguish from real, and a faux jacket can run you anywhere from $40 at Forever 21 to almost $200 at Urban Outfitters. While there are gems to be found, my guess is you're giving up either quality fabric (not that good faux leather doesn't exist) or quality construction-- two things that can make or break your purchase. Real leather jackets, while often considerably more expensive, are generally going to be of a higher overall quality, regardless of the material, so if you plan on wearing your jacket regularly for more than one season, you may want to invest in the real deal. I've found several real leather jackets that retail for less than $250, and if you can dig up a coupon code or are brave enough to play the game known as "I'll wait 'til it goes on sale," you can snap one of these up for quite the steal. The trick is to look in places you may not normally frequent! So-called "mom brands" like Ann Taylor, Eddie Bauer, and Jones New York happen to have gorgeous leather jackets that easily rival the trend pieces you'd see in any high-end shop-- at about a third of the price. Click on the slideshow to see them all!

How Much Would You Be Willing To Splurge On A Shearling Moto ...

    image
Alex Gambardella on Oct 24, 2009 9:25 AM PDT
As the air starts to get chilly and the leather moto jacket trend starts to get a little exhausted, designers are spicing things up -- studs, built-in belts, and of course, fur and shearling-trimmed collars. As any avid shopper knows, not all trendy biker jackets are created equal... so how to choose? Here we break down a few collared options from opposite ends of the cost spectrum, because depending on your budget (or lack thereof) and your insatiable desire for brand names, a suspiciously good steal isn't necessarily the way to go when you want an investment piece, yet spending a month's rent on one wardrobe addition isn't always in the cards either. Forever 21's Fleece Trim Moto Jacket looks perfectly chic, especially with its appealing $34.80 price tag... but of course, it's not real leather and I wouldn't bet my life savings on how long the piece will last you. The Motorcycle Jacket with Faux Fur Trim by Aqua is genuine leather, but is the authentic material worth the extra $265.20? And of course, for those who won't settle for anything less than the best, the Acne Rita 2 Jacket is convertible with its removable collar -- meaning even more possibilities for long-term wearability. But it also comes at a price. A whopping $1130 price. Which moto jacket do you think is the wisest deal? Vote below on whether you'd save, splurge, or go the middle road... or just scrap the trend altogether!

WhatsWear Finds Great Fall Leather Jackets For Less!

    image

Leather jackets are one of the most important fall staples. They are universal, never go out of style and look great on both men and women. However, some leather jackets can run you upwards of $600! In this economy that is just way too much to spend on a jacket you can only wear in the spring and the fall. However, WhatsWear has come to the rescue and found adorable leather jackets for under $260! We scoured the web searching for cheap and chic jackets for both men and women. TopShop had the best selection of real leather and faux leather jackets. I love their fitted, cropped black jackets for women. These three jackets had more of a rock-n-roll feel, but if you are looking for something more ladylike, go no further than Forever 21's 3/4 sleeve leather jacket in a beautiful cream. Our favorite picks for the boys included the navy bomber jacket (faux leather), the timeless black bomber jacket (all leather and machine washable!) and the super chic grey leather sweatshirt (all leather but dry clean only). Pair your desired leather jacket with just about anything from dresses to jeans to skirts and more! Head over to WhatsWear for more fall fashion that won't cost you the whole season's salary.

Ready to write a page in your own motorcycle dairy? Turn to ASTARS, a new line by Italian motorcycle company Alpinestars. They have been outfitting motorist and car enthusiasts for over 45 years and started a men€™s contemporary line 4 years ago. The new ASTARS brand for women draws inspiration from Alpinestars€™ rich motorsports history without going overboard. No need to be a grease monkey in the garage or rip around the track on a Ducati for these duds. The clothes are made for watching the race, not winning it. The line includes plenty of slouchy tanks and vintage motorcycle tees as well as a few vegan-friendly motorcycle jackets that look just like the real thing James Dean wore back in the day. It provides just the right touch of motorcycle toughness for your everyday look. Take a gander at my slideshow for some of my favorite pieces, then buy some for yourself at alpinestars.com.

    Spring For Leather Jackets!

    image

I'm a girl who believes in wearing a fabulous leather jacket in all transitional seasons. Sure, it may seem like leather jackets should be reserved for fall and winter, but with 3/4 sleeve options and cute details, why not bust them out in the spring? They'll protect you from the elements and bring a little bit of city chic to any outfit. Think cute details, swing styles, and above all, wearability! I love the look of Donna Karan's asymmetrical zip jacket- it has just the perfect balance of feminine and flirtacious. For the girl who brings the sunshine, I think this Soca St. John ruffle leather jacket is just the ticket. Check out my slideshow for some cute leather jackets for spring!
