Meet billi, a Stylediarist from the Netherlands who loves to bake cakes, wear Wayfarers, and has mastered the complex art of layering fashions. Regardless of the season, you can always find billi effortlessly sporting her favorite styles together in cohesive looks. Amazingly, her outfits are never cluttered or disheveled in appearance a la Mary-Kate Olsen. Billi's layers always appear effortless and chic. Simple basics like grey or blue skinny jeans and jet-black tights form the basis of many of her looks. She then dresses up these staples with more statement-worthy fashions like embroidered tunic tops, wide belts, and colorful patterned scarves. For a lesson in layering, just in time for fall, head on over to billi's StyleDiary, and be sure to check out my SLIDESHOW to see ten awesome looks straight from her page.

Hive 5: Hangin' in the 'Hood

There are plenty of reasons to keep a hoodie on hand- they make great portable pillows during class, work wonderfully as hands-free umbrellas, and have you covered- literally- on bad hair days. But wear them in the wrong context and suddenly your cozy hoodie is anything but cool. Luckily you don't have to leave your hood behind because there are plenty out there that are just as comfortable, but don't involve screenprints, alma maters, terry cloth, or weird made-up sports groups (Abercrombie Surf Team, really?). When did hoodies become high fashion? We're not sure, but as long as they keep looking like the ones in our slideshow, we'll be happy in our new hoods.

Stylediarist Jewels knows that basics don't look so dull when they're paired correctly. Dressing almost solely in subdued solids, she creates interest by layering and mixing fabric weights and textures. With this knowledge, all of her looks appear styled, effortless and chic. This New Yorker's subtlety allows her to incorporate trends without having her outfits scream to every passerby, "Look at me I'm fashionable!" No two outfits look identical, but this girl certainly has a cemented style; one that if it works for you, could be easy to achieve with a lot of what's already in your closet. Fashion would be nothing like the cultural mega-force it is today without international influence, and believe me, it goes much farther than the fact that another H&M store pops up every time we blink. That's why I'm so inspired by StyleDiary, where real people from all over the world are posting pictures of their outfits, with everything from the everyday to the experimental. Recently I've taken notice of quite a few Swedish Stylediarists whose outfits quickly caught my attention. Something about their layered looks was so effortless, as if anyone could create them just by using closet staples, yet these fashionistas threw on a unique touch making them truly stand out - a quirky hat, a belt layered over a sweater, or an unexpected pop of color. Click on my SLIDESHOW for seven Stylediarists from Sweden!
