Boring basics are only boring if you don't add something to make you stand out from the crowd. Ever since Givenchy sent a model walking down the runway wearing a layered chain necklace with coins, swords, and charms, I've been obsessed with finding a work appropriate version to make my basic work wardrobe pop. While these layered necklaces can be a daring trend, I would wear them with solid basics to show off the necklace and keep all other jewelry to a minimum. Since the Givenchy necklace is a bit too dramatic for work (and for my wallet!), I've found some that are work appropriate and won't send you to bankruptcy. Check them out in my slideshow!

Street Style Steal: Get Rachel's "Granny Chic" Look

Leaving my house in Laurel Heights, I caught this funky grandma wannabe for San Francisco's Street Style StyleDiary. Wearing both vintage and new, Rachel was mixing prints and textures to give the comfy layered look a not-so-senior-citizen type twist. A high waisted American Apparel pocketed skirt with a vintage western belt was cute and unexpected. Perfect for a day at the museum, her little blouse and scarf gave it all a touch of fun sophistication. But to tell you the truth, what I really loved was the rolled down scrunchy wool-like socks in heather grey with some cute bronze flats! I had forgotten those wonderful days of childhood comfort, and am now officially bringing it back (into my life, at least). To steal Rachel's vintage-like-grandma-used-to look check out my SLIDESHOW for some ideas to make vintage comfy again.
