Plum, aubergine, eggplant... what is it about the dusky purple shade that conjures up thoughts of fall? Well, whatever the reason, it's time to embrace it -- beauty trends for the upcoming autumn months are all about going plummy with your eyes, lips, and cheeks for a sultry yet sophisticated seasonal look. But before you raise an eyebrow at the thought of your grandmother's purple eyeshadow, you should know that these products are anything but retro-tacky! Update a smoky eye with a color-coordinated Stila eyeshadow quad in Montemarte, finished off with Urban Decay's Ink For Eyes in Empire. The contrasting color works wonders in bringing out the gold flecks in your eyes. And if you're all about the flushed cheeks, take your rosy glow up a notch on the color spectrum with Clinique blush in Plum Gorgeous. Scroll through the slideshow for my favorite plum products!

Get Eyes That Smolder With Fall's Best Brow Tools

Forget the complicated eyeshadow techniques and fluttering false eyelashes -- this fall, it's all about going back to beauty basics with come-hither brows. Since you may overlook doing up your eyebrows beyond your basic waxing or tweezing regime, it's easy to forget just how dramatically different your look can change with even the slightest shaping. After all, they do serve as the vital frame for your face, and this upcoming season's brow trend is bold and strong yet still distinctly feminine. While you don't need to go as far as Megan Fox with the dark dramatic arches, consider a flattering reshaping with a set of stencils and keep straying strands in place with a sleek brow gel. You'll be surprised at how much a pair of neat, bold brows can really amp up your whole face -- not just your powerful peepers! Check the slideshow for the must-have tools to add some pow to your brows!

Ready, Set, Prep: The Best Makeup Primers For Your Eyes, ...

As the ultimate makeup junkie, I have a tough time saying no to a new shadow shade, lip color, or nail hue... and it certainly shows in my inability to organize it all. But now that my makeup collection has successfully taken over every drawer, zip case, surface, nook and cranny of my humble abode, I'm starting to resist the urge to buy more and more pots of colors that I'll probably never use more than once. Instead, I've narrowed my focus to scouting out the newest and best priming products that can help make the most of the colors I already have for easy application, flawless appearance, and maximum smudge-free wear all day long. I love the way Smashbox's face primer gives my skin a smoother, even tone and a less oily-looking complexion under my powder, and now that I've tried Urban Decay's eyeshadow primer potion, I can't understand how I lived without it in the first place! Designed to target specific problem areas like the appearance of pores, uneven redness, or runny eyes, today's best primers are bound to keep your makeup in check and have you looking like a million bucks, even with the same shades you already have! Check the slideshow to see a slew of splurge-worthy products that can help keep your makeup in place on your eyes, lips, lashes, and face!

Go Rock 'N Roll Glamorous With Heavy Metal Eyes

The spring runway shows left me thoroughly confused with all the different makeup trends. From bright colors to harsh 80's eyes, natural looks to metallic, Spring '09 brought us a lot of variety and lots of options. But by far the easiest and most flattering look was the metallic eye. Perfect for day or night, it can subtly sparkly and natural or sexy and smoky. One of my favorites was the wide-eyed look at Donna Karan. A beige to natural palette in gold and silver on eyelids paired with mile-long lashes gave the models an upscale yet natural look. Adding a warm coppery gold in the creases and a dusting of lighter shadow in the inside corners makes the eyes appear larger and more awake. When your eyes are sparkly like a disco ball, be sure to keep the rest of the face neutral. A touch of foundation and a terracotta blush is just enough to make skin look flawless and perfect. Finish it all off with a swipe of nude lipstick or gloss. The look will pair perfectly with all the beige and metallic clothes that dominated the runways. Take a look at the slideshow for some products that can help you perfect the look yourself!

The Hottest Lotions And Bronzers For Soaking Up The Sun (Or ...

I don't know about you, but as unhealthy as the sun's harmful rays are, I have a hard time staying out of the sun on those blessed days when it actually decides to come out of hiding and make an appearance. After all, who can resist a fresh sun-kissed glow (when it doesn't start out as a gnarly burn, that is)? Luckily for us sun-hungry bathing beauties, plenty of our favorite top-of-the-line cosmetics lines have hopped onto the bronzing bandwagon and offer loads of options when it comes to getting that summer-worthy warm color sun-free, faking it on a day-to-day basis with natural-looking bronzer or shimmery body makeup, and sunscreen and after-sun lotion for safer outdoor basking. From Lindsay Lohan's anticipated new self-tanner Sevin Nyne to a Tarte bronzing stick made just for channeling those sun-toned summer legs, sun-free is always safer, but you can still be smart and play it safe while in the sun without having to stay winter-ashy all summer long! Check out the slideshow for the full collection of our favorite sunny and sunless products of the season!

Be Pretty In Pink With Fashionably Festive Valentine's Beauty ...

The occurrence of the words "festive" and "beauty" in the same sentence may stir up a few painful memories of that time you went to school on St. Patrick's Day in head-to-toe green, complete with clover-colored eyeshadow and lipstick (it's okay - you sooo did not look like a leprechaun). And yeah, that time you showed up at a Halloween bash with a full-on clown face (only to find out the hard way that it wasn't a costume party) wasn't too hot either. But seriously, no matter what bad experiences you've endured and beauty faux pas you've committed in the past with occasion-coordinated makeup shades, a festive face doesn't have to be obnoxious, nightmarish, or costume-y! With the right products and tints (and the correct doses of them!) you can look great for your Valentine's Day date without resembling a page off the calendar. For one, it's vital to remember subtlety - with Philosophy's candy heart-inspired lip gloss and Sephora Valentine's chocolate-scented bath scrub and body butter, the whole world may not be able to read all your V-Day enthusiasm like a sign on your forehead, but you and the one you'll be cuddling up to will get to enjoy the celebratory scents! Also, while bright red lips and harsh fuchsia blush may set off a warning alarm in your brain, don't shy away from the right shades of pink! With the Laura Mercier First Blush Palette, you'll be surprised at how far a gentle rosy glow can go in creating a softly feminine and flirty look. For the perfect pucker-upper, take a look at Clinique's Kissable Six set of lip plumping glosses, complete with six different pink, plummy, and nude shades, so you won't have to spend hours in the store trying to pick the perfect tint! And, if you're feeling just a tad bit bold, try for a more season-suitable smokey eye in a plum-pink shade like Make Up For Ever's Plum 39 (just make sure to go nude on the lips for balance!). As long as you don't try to use all eight festively fabulous products at once, these candy-colored goods are bound to help you look cuter than Cupid... and way sexier too, I hope. Check out the slideshow for the rest of the Valentine's Day-influenced beauty sets and shades!
