Fashion Week may be over in New York, but there are still styles and trends to be seen. Did you catch the incredible Kabuki-inspired makeup at Marc Jacobs? If not, jump over to The Beauty Stop for a closer look- just maybe don't try out each element at the same time- Halloween's not here yet. Need a new tech toy? Vivienne Tam's newest HP clutch is definitely one to crave. If you're still adding to your fall wardrobe (who isn't?!), check out the super affordable silk t-shirt dress Kristopher Dukes is wanting. Plus, catch stories on affordable handbag choices, top looks from New York Fashion Week, what L.A.M.B. has in store for us for spring, and a pair of particularly lust-worthy Ann Demeulemeester boots. Head Back To School With New Gadgets You Need & Actually Use!

    image

I went to Target yesterday to grab some necessities like ice cream, cute tees and cheap books and DVDs. I somehow found myself in the "back to school" section and almost starting grabbing things until I realized I don't go to school anymore. There's just something special about buying things from simple folders to a brand new laptop. Nonetheless, I do love shopping for other people so I've found some great electronic gadgets that will get you ready for whatever your teachers throw at you! Take a look at this pair of noise canceling headphones from Bose. They're great to use when you're on a plane or need to drown out the sound of your roommate's snoring. For those in high school, check out the Franklin SAT-2400 Princeton Review Pocket Prep which will get you ready for one of the most important tests for college without lugging around a 3-pound prep book. Laptop Add-ons That'll Have Your Notebook Back-To-School ...

    image
Alex Gambardella on Aug 27, 2009 2:25 PM PDT
So you've picked out the laptop that will (hopefully) serve as your loyal lifeline through the four (or more) years ahead full of harrowing all-nighters and endless study sessions. Check. But is its just-out-of-the-box pristine condition completely ready for what it has in store once it's shipped off with you to college? It may be shiny and new, but is it really ready to tackle the long walks to class, the thousands of party pictures, and (gasp!) the spilled energy drinks? Maybe not, but with this selection of laptop additions, you and your notebook will be fully supplied and stylishly accessorized for both working hard and hardly working. Make sure you have a desktop cord organizer to keep all your tangled cables in check, for one, and don't forget to nab a sweet pair of speakers to lure the floormates into your room for your own dorm dance party (after your paper is done, of course). Check the slideshow for some back-to-school laptop loot!

Hot In The Hive: Undercover Laptop Sleeve

    image
Alex Gambardella on Aug 25, 2009 6:24 AM PDT
As a sometimes-careless girl in her early 20s, I've had my share of laptop mishaps. Crashed hard drives, soda spilled on the keyboard, freak accident involving a burst rain pipe (most of those just weren't my fault!) -- name a computer-related tragedy and it's likely I've experienced it. And since I'm far from wealthy enough to be able to afford a replacement laptop every time something goes terribly wrong, I'm not about to take my chances when it comes to my battle-weary notebook getting stolen. The solution? Make it look like a piece of junk with this Undercover Laptop Sleeve! Made to look like a crappy old envelope, the waterproof sleeve is actually quite heavy-duty in its protecting qualities with its tear-proof padding, yet its disguise is something thieves won't even give a second look! Just make sure you don't bring your incognito laptop with you to mailroom -- accidentally shipping it off to China is one thing this sleeve can't protect against.

    Price: $29.79

Ever sit at your work desk and wonder what life would have been like if you pursued your dreams of becoming a DJ? ...No? Yeah, me neither... but I still think it would be pretty fun to give it a shot without having to bribe the club mixmasters into letting me dabble with their ultra-expensive equipment. With the Crosley Portable USB Turntable, an exclusive Urban Outfitters gadget, you can start spinnin' and scratchin' all your favorite old-school tracks with just a quick plug-in to your Mac or PC, and even transfer them to your iPod. Now all you need to do is raid your parents' collection of ancient LPs and you can get to experimenting away with your untapped beat-rocking skills.

    Price: $160
