Get Your Own "Little Miss Lanvin" Doll

    image
Pauline Montupet on Oct 26, 2009 2:21 PM PDT
Jeanne Lanvin founded the fashion house we know as Lanvin in 1889. In 2001, Alber Elbaz took over as artistic director and the house has never been the same since. His designs grace the red carpet and hang in fashionista's closets everywhere. Along with the gorgeous gowns, he incorporates cute "Little Miss Lanvin" illustrations on some cheeky t-shirts and sweaters. Now they're stepping into 3-D. Lanvin has partnered up with the porcelain company Franz to make "Little Miss Lanvin" dolls. Each season there will be 6 new limited edition porcelain dolls, with just 800 released. Priced at $345 each, they each come packaged in Lanvin's signature pale blue box. The idea is homage to Jeanne Lanvin's part in the post-war Theatre de la Mode show, in which French couturiers showcased their designs through miniature dolls, due to the lack of fabric. Spring '08 and Spring '09 dolls are out now, and the newest collection will be out soon. Check www.franzcollection.com to find out where you can buy them!

Lo Bosworth Dishes On Style And The New Season Of The Hills!

    image
Adriana Nova on Sep 29, 2009 8:17 AM PDT
Lo Bosworth's most memorable quip about fashion may be "I have not found a cute white dress, like, ever. They're all trashy and tacky." This, of course, was spoken right before the screen cuts to a shot of Kristin Cavallari in a clingy sleeveless eggshell number (meow!). Die-hard watchers will remember that infamous scene from Season 1 of "Laguna Beach," where we were first introduced to much of the cast that now makes up "The Hills" milieu. Now, it's been five years... has Lo managed to ever find a decent white dress? "I have!" she laughed during our interview last week. "I just got a great white shift dress from Topshop that's beautifully decorated with little black beads all over it. White doesn't really do great things for me from behind, though." Her candidness and reversal of judgment demonstrate a lot about her. Loyal but level-headed, the Laguna/Hills star may have strong opinions but isn't inflexible about viewing them from another angle. It's that same distinct yet laidback quality that also marks her personal style, which I happen to love -- easy yet elegant. Her wardrobe must-haves? "I like to really combine high-end with low-end stuff, especially things that are more 'evening' with others that are more casual," she shares. "[My style] is a good representation of a lot of LA fashion, and fashion just in Southern California: jeans, an amazing leather jacket, and a great blouse, purse, and heels... it's a good look: casual and just easy." I also asked Lo about stylists (she doesn't use one and puts her looks together mostly on her own), favorite designers (Alexander Wang, Phillip Lim, Lanvin), and beauty obsessions (her new Shu Uemura sheer orange lip gloss). So will Lo, who's just been given FLING Chocolate's first-ever "Best Fling" honor for "her confidence in being naughty, but not that naughty," be getting up to any trouble on the new season of "The Hills?" "For the next few episodes of the show, you're going to see me moderating between a lot of people. I try not to get too involved in the drama and be the calm between the storms!" Let's see: that's "moderating," "drama," and "storms" all in one description. Yep -- sounds like "The Hills" is back! Tune in to MTV for the season premiere on Tuesday, September 29 at 10pm! London Boutique Browns Fashion Launches 'Labels For Less' ...

If you online shop (or online window shop) as much as we do here at Stylehive, you've heard of Browns Fashion, the high-end London boutique that brings us eye candy in the form of all of the YSL and Balenciaga we could ever dream of someday owning. Well here's one for the bookmarks: Browns has recently launched Labels For Less, a discount site featuring designer goodies at up to 70% off. Once you get over the cheesy name, it's a great resource to have if you're in the market for hard-to-find labels like Raf Simons or House Of Holland. Are the goods still expensive? Well, yes, we're talking about Lanvin and Margiela here. But it's nice to know that when I finally stumble upon that winning lottery ticket or trust fund I never knew I had, I'll be able to afford way more designer goods than I had previously thought. I knew there was a silver lining somewhere in there!

    The Asymmetric Trend Is Back!

    image

The asymmetric trend is back! For example, one-shoulder dresses, or tops with different sides like we saw at Lanvin. And don't forget the asymmetrical bathing suits! They are simply irresistible... designers from La Perla (pictured) to H&M would agree. You don't need to spend a lot to try this popular trend for summer- check stores like ASOS and Selfridges for asymmetric and one-shouldered styles that'll bring runway style to your wardrobe without breaking the bank. Click over to Girlscene to see their favorite asymmetric tops, dresses, even skirts!

    Obsessed over Nude Flats!

    image
Natalie Zee Drieu on Mar 25, 2009 6:18 AM PDT
Don't ask me what came over me. I felt the rush late Monday night while remembering a photo of Angelina Jolie and the Lanvin nude ballet flats she had on, like a year ago. I loved the idea of shoes that looked barely there and thoughts of spring are upon me. I'm not ready to shell out 500-600 bucks for those coveted Lanvins, so a quick search online would have to do. It's amazing how hard it is to find a shoe with just the right shade of nude and with a simple design. I finally found these Madison Harding Ballet Flats that are now on sale for only $52.90 at Nordstrom (was $89.95, only size 8 left in Nude Patent). So, thankfully now these little beauties are purchased and now I can find something else to be obsessed over.
