While the fashion industry has a bad reputation for being food phobic, it's amazing how well some of my favorite fashion designers can cook! The American Fashion Cookbook: 100 Designers' Best Recipes is published with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) which means the proceeds will be helping American fashion designers. Learn how to make Isaac Mizrahi's Mushroom Truffle Spaghetti, Cynthia Rowley's truffle mac and cheese or Diane von Furstenberg's Saturday night chicken. With an introduction by home and cooking maven (and former model) Martha Stewart and over 100 recipes from appetizers to desserts, your favorite designers can accompany you all the way from the closet to the kitchen! If you've got some fashionista foodie friends, this would be the perfect gift for the holidays. The next time someone complains that no one eats in the fashion world, pull out this cookbook, whip up something delicious, and prove them totally wrong!

Hot In The Hive: Food Print Bowls

    image

Have you ever been tricked by a mirror? No, I'm not talking about those dressing room mirrors that make anyone look like Gisele. I'm talking about mirrored walls that make rooms look bigger or half-filled mirrored bowls that make it seem like it's filled with endless treats. Yup, I've definitely gotten tricked by mirrors! This time, it's not a mirror that has tricked me, but trompe l'oeil print instead. I found these food print bowls from Dutch by Design and was instantly charmed by them. The outside of the bowls look quite ordinary, but once you peek inside, a convincing print of popcorn, chips, salad greens, french fries, and more can be seen. I can imagine filling the popcorn bowl with popcorn and watching my friends try and get the last kernel only to be tricked! The hard part is deciding which one to get!

Make A Bold Statement With Colorblock Home Decor

    image

The colorblock craze is one that I like very much. There is nothing more sophisticated than that classic combo of black and white. Bright, solid hues matched with black or each other make for an eye-catching and fashionable ensemble. It's such an easy and appealing way to add interest and color, it's a wonder that it hasn't caught on in home decor as well. Be a trend-setter and apply this tried and true style statement to your home. You can choose a few of your favorite colors and use them in a number of accents. Throw pillows and rugs are an easy way to go and make boring rooms more colorful and energetic. Items like placemats and shower curtains are also fun and easy ways to spruce up your living space and give your home a harmonious theme without having to spend too much! Click on the slideshow for some great colorblock ideas that you can bring into your home!

Hot In The Hive: Witches' Kitchen Casserole Cauldron

Double, double, toil and trouble! Concoct the perfect witches' brew (or a totally harmless casserole that's just frighteningly festive) this Halloween season with the Witches' Kitchen Casserole Bowl from Unica. The black ceramic bowl can also be used as a regular serving bowl (snacks, candy, spooky side dishes -- you name it!) and is part of a sustainable line of limited-edition goods produced from eco-friendly materials. Sure, it's a little costly, but it's not so garishly Halloween-ish that you'd be forced to hide it in the cupboard until next year. It's universally sleek and stylish for kitchenware, but with the right seasonal decor and the perfect pointed hat, it's potion-ready!

Hot In The Hive: Jonathan Adler Mr. and Mrs. Muse Salt And ...

These days, I'm getting invited to fewer wild parties and going to more subdued wedding showers and housewarming parties instead. Well... they seem more subdued until someone drinks one too many wine coolers and the rest is Facebook infamy. Anyway, the point of the story is that I'm no longer expected to bring a six-pack of cheap beer. Instead, I have to buy a real gift that they'll actually want to use. That's why I've been falling back on the creative genius of designer Jonathan Adler and buying all his cute creations. My latest find is the Mr. and Mrs. Muse salt and pepper shakers. These super adorable salt and pepper shakers is a great choice for a housewarming or hostess gift for any quirky friends you may have. As the night wanes and I have the urge to be a little immature, I can always bring the two shakers together and have them make kissy faces. Please, don't tell me you didn't think of that too!
