The Best At Home Beauty Treatments

    image
kate napleton on Jun 19, 2009 4:10 PM PDT
Seriously, sometimes there's nothing better than skipping out on a weekend night and enjoying some beauty treatments. Seriously, think of it as a health expense and do it (okay, have a glass of wine, too)! If you want to buff and exfoliate away some dry skin, my favorite is Bliss Fat Girl Scrub from Sephora. It gets rid of any dead skin cells and leaves your skin soft and smooth. The Shisheido Benefiance Pure Retinol Instant Treatment Eye Mask uses vitamin C to get rid of dark circles, leaving you looking refreshed after a weekend, instead of over-partied. Check out my slideshow for lots of other great at home beauty treatments!

    Kiehl's "Recycle and Be Rewarded"

Long gone are the days where good achievements are rewarded with gold stars and a big A+...or are they? Maybe they've just been replaced with something better! Now you can gather up all your used Kiehl's bottles, jars and tubes and take them to a Kiehl's free-standing store for recycling through the "Recycle and Be Rewarded program". For your hard work and trouble, you'll receive a card to collect stamps for each container you recycle in store. The more bottles you turn in the more generous the samples and gifts get. Score a free tube of Lip Balm #1 with your third container returned and an item from the Official Kiehl's Travel Collection with your fifth. Make it all the way to 10 stamps and a filled card, you can choose any one regular sized product valued at $25 or less. It's green for the environment and helps you keep the green in your wallet. Visit kiehls.com for a store near you.

Kiehl's Marvelous Mineral Mascara Lives Up To Its Name!

    image
Natalie Zee Drieu on Apr 15, 2009 5:20 AM PDT
I've been using the new Kiehl's Marvelous Mineral Mascara for a couple weeks now and am loving it. I've been on a major beauty kick lately and I've been trying to find the right mix of products to look fresh and natural. This mascara does the trick and lengthens the look of my lashes without clumping. Made with some natural ingredients such as acacia senegal, jojoba oil, and aloe vera, the mascara is also paraben-free and fragrance-free. The fact that it's made with such great ingredients makes me happy to put it on each day. Check out Coquette for more on this and other spring beauty and fashion finds!

    Hot Beauty Ingredient: Argan Oil

    image

What's the hottest new beauty ingredient of 2009? Argan oil. Never heard of it before? Well, you will soon since it's being used in all sorts of products from masks, moisturizers, balms, and body butters. Known for its miraculous healing and moisturizing properties, argan oil has proven to reduce the depth of fine lines and wrinkles resulting in an overall improvement in the skin's surface. This hard-to-find oil is from the argan tree located in a remote region south of Morocco, and is notoriously difficult to harvest, making it one of the most expensive oils on earth (take that Creme de la Mer). One of my favorites is Elemis Pro-Collegen Quartz Lift Mask ($81 at timetospa.com), it's like a take home facial that gives you that ten-year-younger face lift look and baby soft skin. PRIORI makes a great CoffeeBerry Body Emulsion ($70 at Prioriskincare.com) that tightens and firms your legs and body while reducing signs of aging. Looking for something good for you and the community? Then Kiehl's Superbly Restorative Skin Salve with Fairly-Traded Argan Oil ($25 at Kiehls.com) is the thing for you. Plus, it can even be used on your nails to soften cuticles and your hair to smooth split ends! Is there anything this miracle oil can't help?

Give A Double Dose Of Holiday Goodwill With Gifts That Give Back

    image

We've always been told that it's better to give than to receive and that's totally right, especially when we can give twice! I'm not talking about buying double the presents- instead, I'm encouraging getting gifts where the proceeds go towards charitable causes. Take a look at iconic handbag maker, Coach. They launched a Coach Cares program where 20% of the purchase price will go towards causes chosen by celebrities like Mandy Moore, Jessica Alba, and Halle Berry. In the mood to beautify your family or friends? Proceeds from the Lush Charity Holiday Box gift set will go towards funding for animal rights, environmental protection and humanitarian concerns. One thing is for sure, giving these gifts will definitely put you in Santa's nice list this year! Click on the slideshow to see more gifts that give back.
