Piperlime.com Launches New Apparel Shop Today!

    image
Pauline Montupet on Aug 17, 2009 12:24 PM PDT
I've been a huge fan of Piperlime.com since it launched in 2006. It's become my go-to place online for shoes and handbags. With over 200 brands, they carry everything from the inexpensive to high-end and tons of options in between. Well, I guess domination of online shoes stores wasn't enough! Starting today they will be adding about 65 more brands to their roster with their new apparel section. That's right, they're now a one-stop shop carrying everything from denim and tops to the shoes and bags they already carry. They'll be stocking up on all your basics from brands like 7 for all Mankind, Joe's Jeans, Cynthia Vincent, Paul & Joe Sister, as well as lesser known, up-and-coming brands like Riller & Fount and Kain. Happy shopping!

Style Essentials: Our Top Ten Must-Have T-Shirts!

    image

Ask anyone what they have the most in their wardrobe (besides underwear and socks), the answer is most likely t-shirts. I recently made an inventory of my closet, and let's just say that I don't need to buy anymore t-shirts for a long time. Just why are t-shirts so popular? They come in all colors, styles, and fabrics from cotton jersey to bamboo. You can also find t-shirts from a variety of price points. Some can be over $100 while others can be less than your regular cup of coffee (hello, Hanes!). Most importantly of all, they're comfortable! A lot of times, comfort doesn't always see eye-to-eye with stylish, but I like to think of t-shirts as a blank slate. Pair a t-shirt and jeans for your everyday errands or tuck the shirt into a high-waisted skirt, add some chunky jewelry and you're ready for a night out on the town. Here's my list of top essential t-shirt styles everyone should have in their closet.

    1. The classic crew neck: definitely a basic staple. These are the best to wear to the gym or even to work if it's a super casual office.
    2. A V-neck tee: it can bare a little more skin than crew neck shirts. I like to wear them with necklaces that rest just by the hollow of the neck.
    3. A pocket t-shirt: these have a casual menswear feel, perfect for brunch with your best friends or a lazy day at the park.

Recession Chic: 10 Mall Store Finds That Look Way More ...

    image
Lisanne Silverman on Jan 15, 2009 5:12 AM PST
I'll take shopping on Shopbop or Revolve over a trip to the mall any day, but these days, even the abundance of steep discounts and final sales (tempting, but SO unfair) can't always lure my credit card out from my wallet. But, as it turns out, mall stores are often filled with a few gems of their own- you know, those pieces that elicit remarks like "you got that where?!" from friends and strangers alike. Case in point- my worn leather bomber jacket from Zara has been mistaken for a Mike & Chris on more than one occasion! And trust me, walking out of the mall with even just one or two of these new favorite items can feel just as good (if not better!) than ordering a similar piece from a designer boutique, especially if you consider you spent so much less, and when it comes down to it, most people won't even know the difference, as long as the item in question isn't a blatant knockoff (Forever 21, are you listening?). Remember that quality accessories can really pull together any outfit, so when it comes to saving and splurging, spend your money where it counts, i.e. not on that $85 Kain pocket tee that Express makes in better colors anyway for a whopping $24.50. I've searched the web for 10 pieces that look the part, but have almost shockingly low price tags. Click the slideshow to see them all!
