    Bride's Got Back!

    image
Amber Fijolek on Jun 10, 2009 10:23 AM PDT
All dressed in that angelic and traditional white, the bride has class, beauty, grace, and... that sexy back! With a crowd of loved ones behind you giving you your time of glory on your wedding day, you might as well appease their visual senses with a nice healthy peek of those shoulders and back. While your conventional gown will keep most of you well hidden, it's a great idea to open up and show them just what made your groom-to-be (and Justin Timberlake) so smitten with you. The subtle sexiness of a gown that plays up your backside might be just what you're looking for if you're not straight-laced enough for a more conservative choice-- not to mention, it may be just what you need in the sweat of putting on a warm-weather wedding. Who Demonstrated The Most Dreadful D-List Style At Bravo's ...

Bravo's 2nd Annual A-List Awards, hosted by Kathy Griffin and airing next Wednesday, might want to consider a name change. While its nominees boast undoubtedly elite names like Justin Timberlake (A-List Male Style), Britney Spears (A-List Artist Of The Year), and Zac Posen (A-List Designer), and other front-runners across the whole artistic spectrum, Paris Hilton was probably the closest thing to "A-List" the event's makeshift red carpet actually saw the whole night (yikes). While I couldn't help but be delighted by the sight of some of my favorite flamboyant Bravo stars, such as Top Chef's Fabio Viviani and the Millionaire Matchmaker herself, Patti Stanger, I actually couldn't help but feel bad for the paparazzi and their lack of interesting subject matter! If it made their jobs anymore exciting, however, some of the event's pseudo-celebrities and celebutantes looked laughably ridiculous in some ill-fitting garments and "what were they thinking?" ensemble choices. Aubrey O'Day surprisingly left her usual skin-tight hoochie dresses at home and opted for a dress that looked ridiculously too big for her in all the wrong places, and the expectedly stylish Rachel Zoe looked like some kind of creepy couture ghost floating down the carpet with her huge shapeless dress billowing in the wind. Vote below on which attention-seeking red carpet strutter looked the silliest! Photo Credit: PR Photos

American Idol's Glam Squad Gets Its Hands On Season 8's Top ...

So far, Season 8 of American Idol has been a rollercoaster ride of emotions and surprises. To name just a few, we've seen tension with the addition of new judge Kara DioGuardi, the surprise announcement of a top 13 instead of the traditional 12 (yay Anoop!), the premature elimination of pint-sized powerhouse Alexis Grace, the introduction of the judges' power to save one contestant from the looming doom of dismissal, and Paula Abdul's inability to complete a coherent sentence (okay, so that's no surprise). One thing that has remained consistent however, is Stylehive's favorite part of the show -- contestant makeovers! We saw former Idol favorites Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood go from drab to fab from their seasons' auditions to their final stages, and the show's Glam Squad, a team of stylists that help shop for looks for the show's performances and results shows, is once again having their way with this year's finalists (and boy did some of them need it)! From Anoop Desai's transformation from nerdy college kid to urban RnB star-in-the-making to Matt Giraud's reworked wardrobe to match his Justin Timberlake sound-alike voice, this season's Idol hopefuls are not only turning out to be the most lovable set of singers, but the most stylish too! Don't forget to watch the show on this week's special day and time tomorrow, Wednesday at 8, to see how the Top 10 fare in performance and poshness, and in the meantime check out the slideshow for more pictures of this season's Glam Squad makeovers! New York Fashion Week Runway: William Rast Brings Good Ol' ...

When Justin Timberlake and pal Trace Ayala decided to start their own fashion label, they built it on edgy urban denim and Southern style. When Johan and Marcella Lindeberg from J. Lindeberg fame jumped on board, they expanded their line. With pieces for both men and women, the William Rast crew gave a show full of denim in the Bryant Park tents. Paired with heavily shoulder padded shirts for women, double breasted blazers, and black & white grungy plaids, the collection stayed true to its southern-minded aesthetic (they even had fringed boots!). Suitable for a barn dance in the city, the denim pieces were clearly the star of the show. It was studded, ripped, frayed and acid washed- yes, you heard that right, acid washed. The collection was admirable, but when you are bombarded with Southern-fried denim and all of the blonde models start looking like Jessica Simpson, you can't help but get a tad bit bored. All in all, a valiant effort for a first time showing in the tents.

How Well Do You Know Your Hats?

    image
    Dino-Ray Ramos on Dec 5, 2008 2:21 PM PST
I have a reasonable arsenal of hats in my wardrobe. Actually, I only rotate two of them: a black Fred Perry newsboy cap and a slouchy khaki driver's cap from H&M. With hats being such a hot commodity (and a nice Christmas gift) with hipsters and fashionistas alike, there is a happy myriad of styles that are hard to differentiate. Sure, there is the run-of-the-mill cap, but what about all those other ones? What makes my newsboy cap different from a driver's cap? Does Justin Timberlake have an affinity for fedoras or trilbies? Is a bowler strictly worn by bowlers or is it Charlie Chaplin's signature hat? Is a porkpie a diner delicacy or a jazzy head topper? And what exactly is a Panama hat? Instead of trying to go into the details of the different kind of hats that are spreading like wildfire throughout the fashion world, go to the slideshow for a pictorial glossary.
