The Holidays Are Here! Help Me Choose The Prettiest Necklace ...

    image
Ida Hsiang on Nov 28, 2009 9:20 AM PST
The holidays mean food, fun gifts and lots of parties and mingling with old acquaintances and new. It's the perfect opportunity to dress to impress! But, realistically, I cannot see myself donning a fitted dress or anything that would give away the fact that maybe I snuck back to devour that second piece of pie... ok, third. Instead, a simple outfit would serve as a backdrop to a beautiful statement piece, like a necklace. A unique and gorgeous necklace shows individuality, a sense of fashion and distracts from a belly full of stuffing and sparkling cider. The only problem? There are too many glittering pieces that I would love to own and wear out there! I've narrowed it down to my favorite three, from Anthropologie: the Roped Posies necklace, the Golden Festoon necklace, and the Frayed Diamond necklace. Take the poll below and help me decide which necklace I should have for the holidays!

Zachary Pryor's Unique Jewelry Is Love At First Sight

New York artist Jesse Utt travels to various spaces to showcase a spunky and shameless collection of wall-hanging artwork -- and makes jewelry-making look like child's play. As attractive as his artwork is on canvas, it's his Zachary Pryor accessories line that's so beguiling, we'd never want to take off. His earrings and necklaces resemble a scrapbook collage of trunk collectibles that are a perfect way to add crafty edge to your style. Metal chains, color contrast and charms all lend a hand in shaping the tasteful trinkets that have found their way to the necks and wrists of art-loving A-listers like Mary-Kate Olsen and Avril Lavigne. Jesse, under the trade name Zachary Pryor (a name that covertly pays homage to his grandmother and plays off a name that he could've been donned at birth) has made wearing art -- and making a statement -- easy. While his past works feature canvas-mimicking illustrations, his most recent follow either a more industrial style that is loud and evocative, or a fierce, whimsical style with bright feathers. Catch some of the lust-worthy eye candy in this slideshow and fall in love with the originality of these essentially one-of-a-kind Zachary Pryor accessories!

I've had a few people ask me about the star necklace Audrey Tautou is wearing in the Chanel No. 5 print ad and TV commercial. She's wearing a piece from Chanel Fine Jewelry -- the Star Pendant in 18K white gold and diamonds from the constellation-inspired Comets collection. There's both a large and small version -- Audrey is wearing the large. Call or visit a Chanel boutique for prices, and don't forget to check out Coquette for more designer fashion finds!

Add Vintage Appeal To Your Look With A Pocket Watch Necklace!

One accessory of the past that I wish had never gone out of style is the pocket watch necklace, or pendant watch. There's something so refined and sophisticated about this vintage-inspired timepiece, dangling elegantly from a chain and worn as a necklace, or placed carefully inside a breast pocket. While watches can also be beautiful, a watch necklace is not only eye-catching, but unique and practical as well. Is there anything else you could ask for from a piece of jewelry? With the layered look still at the forefront of jewelry trends today, a pocket watch necklace frees up a wrist from an everyday watch and allows you to pile on a few more bangles and bracelets. Plus, a pocket watch necklace nestled amongst other chains and necklaces adds interest and texture, giving the wearer a look that's both vintage and modern. Take a look at some of my favorites by clicking on the slideshow!

Multi-Finger Rings Add Bling Without The Bulk

What girl doesn't love jewelry and accessories? The right jewelry can make even a simple outfit of jeans and a t-shirt seem trendy and more dressed up. I'm definitely guilty of wearing a lot of jewelry all the time with necklaces, rings, bracelets and earrings on all at once. Although there are millions of beautiful rings out there though, that is the one item that cannot be piled on in multiples without running the risk of looking a certain Beatle. Cocktail rings were all the rage and still a great piece to add shine and glamour to your ensemble, but the new craze for your digits is the 2-3 finger ring. They're unique and allow you to wear a little bling on more than one finger comfortably and stylishly. Plus, they kind of resemble glorified brass knuckles so make a little more room in that purse by throwing out the pepper spray and just don one of these pretty bad boys instead! Click on the slideshow to see some of my favorite multi-finger rings and add one to your jewelry box today!
