Multi-Finger Rings Add Bling Without The Bulk

    image
Ida Hsiang on Nov 2, 2009 8:30 AM PST
What girl doesn't love jewelry and accessories? The right jewelry can make even a simple outfit of jeans and a t-shirt seem trendy and more dressed up. I'm definitely guilty of wearing a lot of jewelry all the time with necklaces, rings, bracelets and earrings on all at once. Although there are millions of beautiful rings out there though, that is the one item that cannot be piled on in multiples without running the risk of looking a certain Beatle. Cocktail rings were all the rage and still a great piece to add shine and glamour to your ensemble, but the new craze for your digits is the 2-3 finger ring. They're unique and allow you to wear a little bling on more than one finger comfortably and stylishly. Plus, they kind of resemble glorified brass knuckles so make a little more room in that purse by throwing out the pepper spray and just don one of these pretty bad boys instead! Click on the slideshow to see some of my favorite multi-finger rings and add one to your jewelry box today!

Simply Divine: Tiffany Vine Sapphire and Diamond Bracelet

    image

Tiffany celebrates nature's patterns of intricate beauty with tender vines of 355 round and marquise diamonds that form a winding path through 441 perfectly matched sapphires. In fact, the exquisite stones began their journey long before, at the stonecutter's bench. In a feat of skill and precision, Tiffany stonecutters painstakingly cut each diamond that was then bead set in platinum, and hand carved each sapphire to fit the complex channel setting. The result captures the graceful movement of vines blooming against a midnight sky. $195,000 (ouch!) at Tiffany & Co. Fake Diamonds for the Elizabeth Taylor in You!

Diamonds, of course, are a girl's best friend. But in this economy, who has the money to go out and drop some serious cash on a rock? Enter the world of lovely costume jewelry. Oversized faux diamonds are fun, cheap and look great with anything from an evening dress to jeans and a t-shirt! I love the "Big As A House" diamond ring from Fred Flare -- only $9 and makes a huge impact! For something a bit more vintage, what about the tea party ring from Banana Republic? Its vintage cut and mix of materials send a perfect mix of "this is an heirloom" and "this is fabulous." Check out my slideshow for other lovely faux diamonds!

How To Sew Your Own Bib Necklace

    image

Nicole Smith is an editor at CraftStylish, a site dedicated to original do-it-yourself projects for home, fashion, wedding, and more. Below she shares how to sew your own bib necklace... and in turn, save yourself from a thousand-dollar debt at Neiman Marcus!

While looking at the inspirational catalog from Neiman Marcus today, I came across this necklace by Ranjana Khan. The necklace retails for $1,200, and is very similar to this project I made for less than $20, which I call the "Bijoux Necklace." My original inspiration for this project was a necklace by Burberry from their Fall '08 collections. Chunky jewels have been a runway staple the past few seasons, embellishing everything from shoes and headbands to hemlines and jewelry. Get the look quickly with organza (don't worry; it's easy to sew) and faux jewels. A ribbon makes the necklace adjustable for a chocker length or longer. You can also enlarge or reduce the size of the template to any dimensions you like. You'll need: 1/4 yard of organza, 3/4 yard of 5/8-inch-wide velvet ribbon, assorted sew-on jewels, scissors, a sewing machine, a hand-sewing needle, and thread. Get the full step-by-step instructions, along with the pattern's template, on CraftStylish!

Have you ever spent way too much time planning out the day's ensemble the night before, only to put it on the next morning and realize it looks significantly more "blah" on you than it did in your head? No matter how many layers, mixing-and-matching, and pops of color you might have tried to incorporate, something just seems to be missing. Don't fret, dear stylistas; as usual, Stylehive's Stylescopes are here to fix your fashion woes and provide you with stellar style advice that is sure to help you get through the week! A boringly bare outfit usually just needs a little glamming or glitzing up by means of jewelry -- a pendant necklace to keep a naked collar company, a dangly pair of earrings to keep the attention on your pretty face, some bangles to add a dash of flash to your wrists -- the possibilities are practically endless! The heavens forbid, however, that you go overboard with the bling, so make sure you choose your ornaments wisely... and that's where the stars come in! Aries girls can call on some old Hollywood glamor with an updated pearl necklace for some added classy flair to a seemingly everyday outfit, and Capricorns will show they mean business with a pair of gold coin earrings, just for example! Take a look at the slideshow to see what type of jewelry can help you adorn yourself appropriately for the week ahead!
