Find Endless Style In An Infinity Scarf This Fall

    image
Anna Yu on Nov 9, 2009 2:25 PM PST
Fall is my favorite season of the year because I can wear cute boots, peacoats, and scarves galore. However, I have to wait while the fickle San Francisco weather decides whether we're going through one last heat wave or if it's finally going to get chilly. In the mean time, I've been window shopping online for some new scarves. I've got long and short scarves, but don't own any infinity scarves. Also known as circle scarves or loop scarves, these scarves are one big knit ring that you can loop around your neck. Hang it over your neck once like a casual necklace or wrap it around twice (or more) to protect you from the cold. I've found infinity scarves ranging from under $15 to $350! On the lower end, American Eagle has a rugby-inspired Sparkly Striped Circular Scarf you can take to a sporting event or on a day out with friends. If you're looking to splurge, I'm loving the super luxurious Infinity Cashmere Scarf by James Perse. Check out my slideshow for more infinity scarves!

Oh, to be Kate Lanphear! The acclaimed senior fashion editor at Elle and style icon to all urban girls everywhere manages to take grey and black and combine them, twist them, and surprise you with a few basic ingredients. Seriously, just do a quick Google image search - you'll see Lanphear in jeans, t-shirts, blazers, and cashmere, and always looking chic. She's a serious reminder that a minimalist closet can take you very far. Just stock up on a few key pieces and you'll be on your merry way to super-star style status. Though Lanphear prefers Alexander Wang, Aussie Lee Supa Tubes jeans, and Balenciaga, there are definitely ways to achieve a similar look in your price range! Check out my slideshow for some starter pieces to an awesome style! Photo Credit: The Sartorialist

Casual But Chic Camp Shirts Are A Summer Staple

    image

This summer, camp shirts are popping up all over the place, from the traditional structured styles to sheer, more billowy ones. They have a collar and most are button-down, so tuck them into a great pair of wide-leg linen pants and throw on a pair of pumps to be office ready! Change into a flirty skirt and wedge sandals, or some skinny jeans and peep-toe stilettos and you'll look chic and fresh for any after-hours plans you may have. Very comfortable, completely versatile and sweetly sexy in that borrowed-from-the-boys kind of way, camp shirts are the perfect summer staple. They can even double as swim cover-ups! Check out the slideshow for some of my favorites from designers like Modern Amusement, Rag & Bone, American Eagle, and more!

It's finally time to unveil the mystery James Perse item! As we told you last week, this item will be available to you for a limited time at a whopping 40% off! It's the James Perse scoop t-shirt dress. Made from 100% slubbed cotton (this stuff is seriously addictive- the best t-shirt material ever made, if you ask me) in your choice of nine colors, it's the perfect summer dress. It retails for $115, and while it's worth every penny, wouldn't you rather have it, for, say... a mere $69 instead?

Now you can, but you'll have to act quickly- time is ticking away! Check our blog frequently and you can see how much time you have left to purchase the dress, but hurry! Don't miss your chance to own this versatile piece at a fraction of the price!

Coming Monday... James Perse At 40% Off, Just For You!

If I had my way, I would have an entire closet of James Perse. Yes, the tees, tanks, and dresses could be classified as basics, but compare them to your "fresh from the track meet" American Apparel basics and they're truly in a category of their own. They're casual with vintage details and relaxed fits, yet luxurious with high quality fabrics and subtle trims. Oh, and they're supremely comfortable, too!

Unfortunately, they're a bit of a splurge. And while I can say that the tees and dresses are without a doubt the best I've tried, I'm not exactly scooping them up by the dozen. But don't lose hope just yet...

We've teamed up with James Perse to offer you a special deal on one James Perse item. No, we can't tell you what it is yet- you'll have to wait til Monday for that- but we can tell you it's an absolute staple for any wardrobe, specially priced for Hivers at 40% off!

Be sure to check back on Monday where we'll unveil this special deal! It won't last long!

If you're like me and shivering under blankets or still wearing sweaters and boots, now might be the best time to plan your spring break getaway. Whether you're going south of the border or perhaps the beaches of Miami, any place with sun and surf is worth going to! So you've got the location down, now it's time to plan what you're going to pack. When going on vacation, it's always tempting to try out a new style you wouldn't necessarily wear at home. However, the worst thing is to feel uncomfortable or self-conscious, during your well-deserved vacation no less! So stick to your style and stay with neutral colors you can mix and match. You can always be adventurous with the accessories you buy wherever you go, whether it's an armful of stacked bangles or a quintessential statement necklace.

Another hint: making a list of what to pack is important because it will lessen the chance of forgetting something. The last time I forgot to pack without using a list, I didn't bring socks or a toothbrush! Click read more to see my list of spring break travel essentials and check out the slideshow for more ideas. Just remember to leave extra space in your suitcase or pack an empty bag for all the goodies you'll be buying! Read on for my ten spring getaway must-haves!
