Can't Get Enough "Glee?" Check Out Our Pitch-Perfect Style ...

I was having a conversation a few weeks ago with a friend about our TV-watching habits. While he's watching crime dramas and more serious fare, I've been solely dedicated to fashion favorite "Project Runway" (of course!) and musical hit "Glee." I've always been a sucker for musicals and musicals plus high school makes it even better. While some of the plot lines can be pretty outrageous, there's no denying that all the actors are super talented and also have some pretty savvy fashion sense. My three favorite characters of the show, Rachel Berry, Mercedes Jones, and Sue Sylvester all have their own unique sense of style, and although fashion is far from the show's focus, it's certainly worth noticing. Rachel's preppy style with schoolboy blazers and cable-knit sweaters exemplify her character's perfectionism. On the other side, Miss "diva-in-training" Mercedes always wears bright colors and has plenty of bling too. Lastly, Sue may be a tough cookie and wears those Adidas tracksuits like they're going out of style, but her unapologetic attitude is a reminder that we should always be confident in ourselves. Summer's Over, But You Can Still Wear Shorts!

The weather has started to turn chilly these days and I'm super excited to be pulling my fun tights and leggings to pair with my tunic tops, skirts and dresses. But lately I've been wanting more winter wardrobe options than what I currently have. The solution is actually quite simple. Winter shorts (usually made of wool, tweed, or heavier cotton blends) are a fun way to bare your legs even during the colder months. While it's still a little warm, you can wear them without anything underneath but once the winter chill takes over, then it's time to start layering with tights or leggings. One of my favorites is the Wool Flannel Short from J.Crew. For something a little more appropriate for nighttime, I've been obsessed with the Silence & Noise Sequin Tap Short from Urban Outfitters. Take a look at my slideshow for more winter shorts!

Wardrobe Wish List: JCrew's Slub Cotton Crystal Necklace Tee

    image

Okay, I, like most girls, love to dress up. I love zipping up a sexy dress, painting on some dramatic cat eyes, and slipping into some sky-high heels. But I also have those weekends when I am so burnt out, running from class to work to the gym, that I rather curl up in my pajamas and hide under the covers all weekend then spend an hour putting together an outfit. That's why I couldn't be more ecstatic that t-shirts are formal this fall. Whoever came up with this idea is a genius and my new favorite person. There are so many options (these tees are literally everywhere, which means you can find them in any price range), but my favorite is the Slub Cotton Crystal Necklace Tee from J Crew. It's ultra classy and chic, while still being unbelievably comfortable and wearable at the same time. Sure, the price tag is a little steep ($49.50 to be exact), but considering the amount of times I'm going to wear this thing (when I finally get my paws on it), it will be totally worth it. What makes it even better is that with this one addition to my wardrobe I have enough new outfit combos to get me through every weekend in fall. Click over to our friends at CollegeCandy for more!

Tote A Messenger Bag As Your Chic Fall Carry-All

    image

Each year, usually right before fall, I get a hankering for a new handbag, regardless of how recently I purchased my last one. They're just so fun to build outfits around and I hate to hinder my creativity, you know? Right now I'm all about messenger bags- I'm picturing one crafted out of buttery leather, maybe a tad distressed for that vintage look, and preferably in a neutral hue- chocolate brown, khaki, even dove grey would be lovely. The style is undeniably classic and yet alluring at the same time, and the brand is nowhere to be seen (with the exception of a small amount of indicative hardware, in some cases). Larger ones add a seriously urban element to business ensembles, while smaller types lend effortless appeal to androgynous and feminine styles alike. My personal favorite way to wear one of these schoolboy-esque satchels? Strapped across the body, over none other than a flouncy party dress. Click on the slideshow for the messenger bags on my wishlist!
