TheFind Says: I Love My iHome!

    image
Ida Hsiang on Nov 5, 2009 5:17 AM PST
I consider myself pretty technologically advanced. I have a cute little MacBook Pro sitting on my desk at home, and our flat screen Sony Bravia is linked to my boyfriend's computer so that we can watch movies on the TV through his laptop. I have an iTouch and a Blitz (maybe that last one doesn't technically make me savvy, but cuteness must be factored in somewhere to this equation). And yet, with all my bells and whistles, I still felt something was missing. Then, I found her. The iHome LED color-changing speaker system was just the friend I was looking for. I can rotate through multiple colors if I'm feeling psychedelic, or settle her on white and listen to Death Cab for Cutie if I'm feeling mellow. Another awesome feature? The iHome charges your iPod while you listen, so instead of getting dead batteries when you're reading to transfer from home to travel, you're all souped up and ready to go.

Hot In The Hive: Revo Heritage Table Radio

Sure, retro "gadgets" may look cool in a stylishly old-fashioned sort of way, but when it comes to actually using them, our geeky reliance on modern-day tech has us too cyber-spoiled and impatient to put any effort in something that can't keep up with our 3G speediness. The solution? A techie piece of equipment that just looks vintage, but packs all the convenient specs and capabilities of the most recent releases in the gadget world. The Revo Heritage Table Radio has the 60s-style walnut veneer surface, but boasts some seriously modern features in that retro-looking package: an iPod dock, WiFi for all your favorite internet stations, wireless streaming from your laptop, a remote control for maximum laziness, and even an alarm clock in case you doze off while listening to your tunes. It's the perfect device for the music lover who may have an old soul... but secretly can't live without a healthy dose of modern tech!

    Price: 229,95 GBP

    Hot In The Hive: MovieWedge

Man, do I wish I had discovered the MovieWedge in time for my last sleepless red-eye flight to New York! Think of the plushy little media player stand as a bean bag chair for your iPod -- it's tiny, squishy and portable, and props up your device at an adjustable viewing angle so you can watch videos on your device hands-free. Anyone who's had to entertain themselves on the go knows it's a pain to have to hold your player for hours at a time (or at least until your downloads run its battery life dry). Now you and your iPod can be cozy just about anywhere as it sits atop its little perch on any tray table, arm rest, or even on your lap!

    Price: $9.95

The Summer "It" Accessory: An Everything-Proof iPod Speaker Case

    image

Hanging out by the beach/lake/pool sans tune-age is no fun, but neither is accidentally drowning your hapless iPod. Sure, there are protective iPod cases, and there are hardly waterproof portable speaker systems, but going with just one or the other is bound to leave your tunes either safely covered but too quiet to liven up a pool party, or a disaster waiting to happen once the splashes start up. Instead, pack this clever water-/spill-/shatter-proof "Ego Ice" iPod Sound Case which also floats! This handy contraption fits the iPod Classic, iPod Photo, iPod Video & all iPod Nanos. Grab one for yourself in preparation for summer at Otterbox.com. For more fashionably techie finds, make sure to click on over to Fashiontribes!

Great Gift Ideas For The Outdoorsy Guy!

    image
Pauline Montupet on Dec 17, 2008 10:18 AM PST
Shopping for the men in your life is never an easy thing. In the next week I'll break down some gift ideas for any type of guy. These gifts are going to be so good he might even think you're a mind reader! Got an outdoorsy guy on your hands? You know the type. He can't wait to be outside-- camping, hiking, biking are all on his weekend activity schedule. He loves the sights and sounds of nature and thrives best in the mountains or by the beach, even if he's a city boy. Get him some winter gear he can use on the slopes like some fresh new Anon Optics goggles. If he's a really extreme skier or snowboarder, an Avalanche Beacon is perfect for all those adventurous ski outings. If your guy is more of a hang outside type of dude, get him a cozy beanie or a portable grill with an iPod dock perfect for tailgating before his favorite sports games. As long as it gets him outside I'm sure he'll love it. Check out the slideshow for more ideas.
