Hot In The Hive: MobiGrip Device Leash

    image

If you've ever had to replace a waterlogged cell phone (or two) due to an unplanned dip in the toilet, this handy little invention has your name written all over it! The MobiGrip device leash, a stick-on mini-bungee that loops comfortably around your digits, is the cure to all butter finger-inflicted disasters that leave your poor dropped phone either cracked on the sidewalk or slowly fizzling out in a puddle of water. You just peel and stick the little button to the back of your cell, PDA, iPod, digital camera, or other accident-prone handheld and it's safe, sound, and secure in your palm no matter how klutzy you are or sweaty your palms get. You could even use the springy loop to clip your valuables to your belt or to your handbag's wallet clip for extra mishap prevention! As long as you're not careless enough to go for a swim with your gadget still looped to you, you may find yourself sticking with the same unharmed cell phone for a record duration of time!

Price: $9.95 each, with discounts if you buy 6 or more

The Summer "It" Accessory: An Everything-Proof iPod Speaker Case

Hanging out by the beach/lake/pool sans tune-age is no fun, but neither is accidentally drowning your hapless iPod. Sure, there are protective iPod cases, and there are hardly waterproof portable speaker systems, but going with just one or the other is bound to leave your tunes either safely covered but too quiet to liven up a pool party, or a disaster waiting to happen once the splashes start up. Instead, pack this clever water-/spill-/shatter-proof "Ego Ice" iPod Sound Case which also floats! This handy contraption fits the iPod Classic, iPod Photo, iPod Video & all iPod Nanos. Grab one for yourself in preparation for summer at Otterbox.com. For more fashionably techie finds, make sure to click on over to Fashiontribes!

Are you one of the lucky people who got a brand new mp3 player for Christmas? Or maybe, you're thinking about finally getting one? Well, chances are it's either a Zune or iPod, am I right? Rather than bring up the age-old Microsoft versus Apple argument, I propose that both are great gadgets and we should all get the most out of them! I've found speakers, cases, and other accessories for both the Zune and iPod. Take a look at this super sleek speaker and docking station. Or decorate and protect your iPod with limited edition artist series skins. For more accessories for your music player, take a look a the slideshow. And remember to play nice!

Hive 5: Our Fave Retro Techie Toys

Retro tech. Although it's somewhat of a contradictory statement, techie gadgets reminiscent of days past are popping up everywhere! So silly and cute you might dismiss them as toys if it weren't for their practical applications. Yep, these fun gadgets may be retro-inspired, but they're fully equipped with the brains of today. Legos from my childhood have transformed into portable iPod speakers, the rubber ducky from my bath into a USB drive (iDuck), and that impossible Rubik's cube is now a multi-function digital clock. These "toys" are difficult to pass up and would make wonderful gifts for friends (or self)! So check out my SLIDESHOW now to see my fave 5 retro techie toys from around the Hive!
