Bag of the Week: Tarah Smith's "The Yuppie" Handbag

I pride myself on being the handbag loop and knowing what/who is hot long before it hits the masses. In fact, designers often come to me for press writeups or a friendly tidbit before they reveal their goods to the editors at LUCKY, InStyle, etc. So, my bag-a-licious taste buds always perk up when I find something that's already out there. Designer Tarah Smith is a former model and founder of an earlier bag line called SMAK. She's also created handbag for Oscar gift bags. FYI I googled all of that because I had no clue who she was or what SMAK bags even looked like. Looking now at her new fall offering, I'm not only excited by the classy shapes and detailing (love the lanyard-esque handles and the buckles), I'm also flipping for the prices. Can you believe in today's word you can get this bag for under $400? Trust me when I say that it's not any easy task to find a bag at this price. If you own this bag or other Tarah Smith styles, I'd love to know what you think.

Hive 5: Applying Miley Cyrus' Funky Home Decor Taste To Your ...

Thumbing through last month's InStyle Magazine, I came across an article and pictorial on the house of teen queen extraordinaire, Miley Cyrus. The house is beautifully decorated and filled with sumptuous Italian country decor. However, the interior design takes a dramatic detour when it reaches Miss Miley's two room suite. The suite includes a cool blue-toned "Viceroy Hotel" bedroom, but more importantly, a wildly glamorous hot pink and black themed dressing room. The dressing room's walls, hot pink with black chandelier-shaped decals, are so fun and full of life - they had me immediately brainstorming ways to bring this preppy-punk color collaboration into my very own abode. But redecoration can be such a hassle, and why renovate when there are so many adorable yet edgy hot pink and black clothes and accessories in the Hive!? I love how using this unlikely color combination gives sophisticated styles a wonderful punch of color with just the right amount of punk. This a bold color combo is something I have been hesitant to try - until now! Check out my slides for more ideas on how to pull off this rockin' color collaboration!
