  Because each mecedora rocker is hand made, each rocker is unique in its weave pattern and the actual dimensions of the chair differ slightly. Stainless steel is used for the frame. All tubing is bent by hand with the aid of a conduit bender, then welded together. I then use approximately 1000 feet of 1/4" cotton rope and weave it in a random pattern to create the seat and backrest area. The rope is sewn in random inconspicuous places to prevent it from unraveling, this also keeps the rope in place. This rocking chair sits low to the floor (approx. 14" off the ground), and has a wide stance to permit the user to rock very far back without tipping over. The use of bent tubing provides very light, smooth rocking. It has been tested to withstand 300 lbs.

  do you know the feeling total absorption in what you are creating? this dress is the result of one of such moments, days, weeks.. a river of ideas, flowing through the whole month it took to complete it. we made this dress for a contest using all the bits and scraps left over years of weaving. we ran over them with the sewing machine and out came a wonderful new cloth, very similar to felt in feel and weight. it is built on my body and coursets at the back with a black satin ribbon, the lining is watergreen shantung silk, cut on the bias. we listed 2000 because it is not *really* for sale. However, if someone would be so willing, we might consider, lol! The dress is made of very tiny scraps of cloth, woven by us, and then rewoven together using the sewing machine...it was then molded, pinned and again "rewoven" to form the dress...it was painstaking work, to say the least...
