Jewellery using steel packaging graphics.
Having always admired the designs and colours of many printed-steel packaging products (biscuit tins, tea caddys, olive oil cans, etc) I thought that when transformed into 'cabochon' shapes and combined with silver, a range of evocative, fun and illustrative jewellery could be produced.
The addition of rubber cord, semi-precious beads and stones adds an accent of colour to complement the featured fragment of packaging design. The emphasis is on producing a greater number of unique designer pieces. Hand-crafting linked with simplistic batch production techniques have enabled me to do this and produce each piece as a unique one-off according to the printed design. Some of the pieces are hung from handmade silver chains, chokers, or standard silver choker-wires and chains.
