Rock a Leather Mini Like Isla Fisher

    image
Sabrina Newman on Nov 1, 2009 5:19 AM PST
At the "Rock A Little, Feed A Little" benefit concert in L.A., the adorable Isla Fisher got in touch with her sexy side, rocking this season's leather trend in a fun and funky way. Isla paired her leather mini with a cool tie-dye tee-shirt and accessorized the look with funky peep-toe booties, a pendant necklace, and an edgy cuff. I love how Isla tempered the inherent sexiness of her leather mini with a more casual top to keep the look from being too vampy. Balance is a key concept to keep in mind when rocking anything leather. Isla also gets points for showing accessory-restraint. When you're outfit is this cool, you really don't need to pile on many extras.

Get Emma Roberts' Casual, Sophisticated Look

At the New York premiere of Inglorious Basterds, the always on-point Emma Roberts kept is casual-chic with a bit of a fashion-forward flair. Emma kept her look youthful with a pair of skinny jeans paired with a heather gray ruffled top. She dressed up the look with a sharp blazer, black patent pumps, and a simple cocktail ring. While some more accessories would have made this look a bit more fashion-forward, keeping it clean and simple created a more sophisticated and polished effect. A look like this one is definitely sharp enough to work for day and sexy enough to work for night. Keep it simple like Emma or kick it up a notch with an edgy pair of pumps and some standout accessories. Check out my slideshow to get the look!

    Fall Trend Alert: Leather Jewelry!

    image
Adriana Nova on Aug 17, 2009 8:23 AM PDT
The upcoming fall fashion season will be heavy with rich textures and colors. Metallics, tweeds, and leather in all its forms--including jewelry. Jewelry? Leather accessories are mother's milk for the style-conscious (thinking about how much leather I personally own between shoes, purses, and jackets alone likely places me in PETA's crosshairs). Leather jewelry, however, is a niche in accessories that's not often thought of much. Mostly, I think, because people tend to envision Bondage or Dude Ranch homages whenever you hear "leather choker" (er, not that there's anything wrong with that!). However, there's a lot of gorgeous leather tooling in jewelry going on at the moment, particularly within Nicole Richie's House of Harlow 1960 line, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite accessories brands. I like what leather jewelry does for an outfit: it takes a fabric typically reserved for hard use and turns it into something delicate, not to mention the dimension of texture it immediately adds to any look. Added bonus: price points that are normally reasonable and within reach. Take a look at selections from Oscar de la Renta, Alberta Ferretti, and Anthropologie, among others, in my slideshow!

Fake Diamonds for the Elizabeth Taylor in You!

Diamonds, of course, are a girl's best friend. But in this economy, who has the money to go out and drop some serious cash on a rock? Enter the world of lovely costume jewelry. Oversized faux diamonds are fun, cheap and look great with anything from an evening dress to jeans and a t-shirt! I love the "Big As A House" diamond ring from Fred Flare -- only $9 and makes a huge impact! For something a bit more vintage, what about the tea party ring from Banana Republic? Its vintage cut and mix of materials send a perfect mix of "this is an heirloom" and "this is fabulous." Check out my slideshow for other lovely faux diamonds!

Going, Going, Green! Our Favorite Looks Are Irresistible In ...

Green may not be the first color you're excited to wear in the summer months, but it is making a huge impression this year. Fashion editors all over are praising bold, kelly green shades as a perfect complement to summer skin, a light and refreshing color that works with many skin tones. Imagine carrying around Tory Burch's 'Nico' north/south tote for a perfect pop of green to any outfit. Or popping on this perfect green jersey dress from Myne Karlin to meet your friends for brunch on a warm Saturday. Check out my slideshow for plenty of cute, summery, GREEN looks, because they're not just for St. Patrick's Dayany more!

While the oft-quoted saying "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" is usually used more in sarcasm, I like to think that it's true in fashion. After all, we don't live in isolated bubbles, so we get our fashion inspiration everywhere from the runways to the streets. Celebrity style is one thing -- who wouldn't want to take a look at their amazing, albeit expensive closets-- but StyleDiary is a great place to see what real people are wearing all around the world! From Manila, Stylediarist lloydazindy has been chronicling her style since 2005. I admired one of her latest outfits which is perfect for a casual office setting or hanging out in a park. With a simple varsity cardigan and totally of-the-moment liberty floral print skirt, lloydazindy takes preppy chic to another level. Get her look by clicking the slideshow and be sure to follow lloydazindy on Stylediary!
