Rock A Hot Pink Frock Like Blake Lively

    image

At this year's CFDA Fashion Awards, the beautiful Blake Lively made a show-stopping splash wearing a hot pink strapless dress by Michael Kors. Given the bright hue of the dress, Blake kept the rest of her ensemble on the subtle side with a pair of nude Christian Louboutin pumps, and some stunning jewelry pieces from Lorraine Schwartz including blackened gold and diamond hoops, a black jade and diamond ring and a blackened gold diamond mesh ring. Hot pink was without a doubt the shade du jour on the Spring 2009 runways, as seen at Badgley Mischka, Matthew Williamson, Doo. ri, Christian Dior, and many more, and the neon-color trend will be even more potent with the eighties revival on the horizon for Fall. Blake's strapless style is both fashion-forward and classically chic, definitely perfect for summer soirees! Check out my SLIDESHOW for 5 styles similar to the one she sported.

Think PINK this summer as we transition into fall. The '80s influence continues and we are loving the sizzling hot hues, especially neon hot pink. The stark contrast of neon pink with black looks fresh, fun, and girlie for clothing and accessories. Pair a hot pink shell blouse with an oversized black boyfriend blazer and skinny jeans, or go from head to toe in a hot pink asymmetric dress. There are also loads of bright pink accessories such as this cheeky Alexander McQueen clutch, neon pink belt, or pink thong sandals if you're looking for just a dash of neon color. Check out more summer-to-fall trends at our friends at TheFind!

With all of the focus on new trends, it's easy to forget what is perhaps the most influential trend of all- color! The global authority on color, Pantone, Inc., recently released their top picks for the colors to look out for in '08, and it consists of muted neutrals and pastels alongside warm yet sophisticated brights. One of our favorites is Rococco Red, a not-quite-magenta color that maintains just enough classic red undertones to appear polished.
