Is there anything more relaxing than a tranquil stay at a beach-front home? While it may be hard to venture off to a seaside escape, bringing under-the-sea-inspired home decor and the soothing colors of the ocean into your own living space is easily doable and beneficial to everyone. While an under-the-sea theme usually conjures up the bright colors and cartoon-like sea creatures reminiscent of Disney movies and kids' birthday parties, putting a more tasteful spin on things is easy! Subtle home accessories, peaceful colors and rich, quality materials make you home into a mini-beach front getaway, even if you live in the middle of the city. Click on the slideshow to see some stylish sea-inspired home accents that will help turn your space into a calm and charming Octopus's Garden!

It IS easy being green! At least at Emerald it is. These twin towers of eco-friendly condos on the east edge of Chicago'ss hot, hot, hot West Loop neighborhood offer a calm, relaxing retreat in the middle of the urban jungle. Decorated in a variety of natural greens and recycled materials, the lobby (with 2-story glass atrium), bar/lounge and boardroom are conscious common areas just steps from Restaurant Row, Greektown, The Loop and the financial district. Each unit has a private balcony -- many with picturesque skyline views -- as another way to bring nature inside. And with an appropriate address on Green Street, Emerald lives up to its gem status in luxury environmentally responsible living.

Make A Bold Statement With Colorblock Home Decor

The colorblock craze is one that I like very much. There is nothing more sophisticated than that classic combo of black and white. Bright, solid hues matched with black or each other make for an eye-catching and fashionable ensemble. It's such an easy and appealing way to add interest and color, it's a wonder that it hasn't caught on in home decor as well. Be a trend-setter and apply this tried and true style statement to your home. You can choose a few of your favorite colors and use them in a number of accents. Throw pillows and rugs are an easy way to go and make boring rooms more colorful and energetic. Items like placemats and shower curtains are also fun and easy ways to spruce up your living space and give your home a harmonious theme without having to spend too much! Join Wilkinson, (who worked with Duquette for 30 years as an apprentice, assistant and then business partner) as he gives us a glimpse inside a magical home where inspiration and beauty reside. It's time to spice things up at home, and not just in the bedroom either! While we would all love to be jet-setters and fly off to exotic places halfway across the world, it is not a possibility for many of us due to money, time or both. Although the mysticism of far away lands may be enticing, but not quite within reach at the moment, these sumptuous luxuries and richly saturated materials can be brought back and enjoyed in your own home. With ethnic African and safari-inspired prints that make your living area feel like a trip to the savannah, richly saturated and beautifully decorated rugs and home accents that make you feel like you're laying back in a Persian palace, and the minimalist sophistication of Asian-inspired pieces that help give you a peaceful and meditative state, you can take a trip around the world in the comfort of your own home. Click on the slideshow to see some home decor that will add the alluring glamour of distant destinations to your living space.

Getting organized is the worst. I mean, there's the going through your stuff phase, the purge phase, the immediately-regretting-that-purge phase and then boom! Where are you going to put all this stuff? There are a lot of cute storage solutions right now, and I've put together a few of my favorites. I love this Axis Set of Nesting Boxes in Black Toile at Target. Imagine having all of your accessories neatly organized in these boxes sitting on the shelves in your closet? Delightful! For a great vintage, well-traveled look, why not use this Faux-leather Trunk as a side table in your living room? Extra credit if you can add some stickers of your favorite destinations. Check out my slideshow for lots of great home storage solutions!
